Following the Cup race at Martinsville, Ross Chastain was all that anybody could talk about. This was because he pulled off a daredevil stunt to steal a Championship 4 spot. The move has been much debated by his peers, and sides have clearly been taken, with some praising him and others criticising him. Kyle Larson was clearly not a fan of the move, calling it ’embarrassing’, and Joey Logano agreed with him.

He said, “All I’m saying is, Ross gets out of the car and he says his eggs are scrambled. That can’t be a good thing. For one, if the car climbs up on the wall, there’s a bad thing for safety for not only Ross, but the fans sitting there. That’s not necessarily a good thing. Well he [Larson] was honest about it. I appreciate honesty, if that’s how you feel, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Do I think, if we did this every week, it would happen all the time? Yeah I would agree with Larson on that.”

Why did Joey Logano take that stance against Chastain?
Logano’s opinion was purely based on driver and fan safety. He also acknowledged that Larson was honest about attempting something similar. Although it is worth mentioning that the move failed for him and he lost out on a race win. According to the #22 driver, it was okay if it was a one-time occurrence. He even confessed that the move was ‘awesome’ and he didn’t want to take anything away from Chastain.

However, he insisted that if happened multiple times, then the wow factor is gone. At that point, the integrity of the sport starts to go down. That being said, it was still going to be considered as one of the greatest moves in NASCAR history. This is largely because of the stakes involved and what Chastain did to achieve it.
