NASCAR Xfinity Series resumed at the Michigan International Speedway after a long three-week haul. The race was a dramatic opener. Now only three races are remaining in the regular season, before the much-awaited playoffs. The race was filled with caution till the very last lap. The final one came as Kyle Sieg’s race ended abruptly with a spectacular flip on the last lap of the Xfinity Series event. Fortunately, he was able to climb out of the car without assistance.

It was a really bad weekend to be Kyle! In the same race, what looked like the scariest crash of the series involved Kyle Weatherman. As Weatherman hit the outside wall, sparks engulfed his car. Sending a chill down the spine of those in the grandstand. Fans took a sigh of relief as he walked out safely from his car.

Both Kyles are safe!

In the thrilling race, Justin Allgaier captured his second Xfinity Series checkered flag of the 2024 season, dominating the Cabo Wabo 250. Despite leading 37 laps, Sheldon Creed, who started from the pole, was unable to convert his strong performance into a victory. Extending his unfortunate record for most second-place finishes (11) in series history. Surely not a record he wants to hold. Behind him, John Hunter Nemechek, Anthony Alfredo, and Noah Gragson rounded out the top five.

The victory did not come before some scary crashes happened in the race. While on one hand, we saw RSS Racing’s Kyle Sieg flipping and going airborne and sliding on his roof on the final lap, another contact involved Kyle Weatherman. With just a few laps remaining, in turn two, Kyle Weatherman’s car suddenly went and hit the outside wall and got dragged alongside it. Sending sparks on the racetrack, his car also caught fire momentarily, but it died down. The reason the #91 went hard into the SAFER barrier is unknown.

Thankfully, both Kyles are fine. Weatherman walked out of that nasty wreck on his own. However, he wasn’t pleased with what happened. He took to X to share it and wrote, “This hurt.”

After that scary crash, everyone got worried about his safety. But there is no need for concern, as he took to X to share another message for his fans. Although injured in a minor way, he is okay. In the video shared by Weatherman on X, he said, “That was the hardest hit I have ever had in this car. Something broke in the car, I really don’t know what. I am okay. My left foot’s banged up pretty good and the right side of where my seat sits on my chest. It’s pretty sore but got evaluated and treated and checked out. They are going to send me somewhere tomorrow in Charlotte once I fly back and get me checked again tomorrow with some X-rays and stuff.”

But thankfully both Kyles are fine. Weatherman also went on to thank all the fans for the messages, who were relieved as he walked out of that car unscathed.

Weatherman’s crash triggered the eighth and final caution of the race. As the field slowed under yellow, rain began to fall, leading to a second red flag and pushing yet another NASCAR race into overtime. No one saw it coming, but as it stands, Michigan has always seen such crazy crashes. Remember Noah Gragson’s 2023 crash? He had to sit out for several races because of concussions. Now only time will tell if Weatherman will face repercussions or not. Voicing the intensity of the crash as Kyle Weatherman himself said how hard it was, this fan wrote, “That’s one of the hardest hits we’ve seen this season; hope Kyle’s OK.”
