The countdown had begun at the opening of the season, the countdown to the 300th victory, and the countdown to reinforce that Hendrick Motorsports is the winningest team in NASCAR. However, it was not before a series of setbacks that the team was finally able to achieve the milestone on the tracks of Texas Motor Speedway. It was a battle for the lead between Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace, as they raced door-to-door against each other. However, neither was destined for victory, as the final restart of the race turned the tables of the race.
It was the Hendrick Motorsports’ prodigy and his knack for scoring a victory in the most unanticipated fashion that surged from the back of the field and took the reins of the race. As a result, it seems that the team’s gamble finally paid off as Kenny Wallace asserted his opinions on the team’s 300th victory.

It took a bit more than three decades for Hendrick Motorsports to score its 300th victory. The very first victory was netted by Geoff Bodine on the track of Martinsville back in 1984, which marked the initiation of a rich legacy, whose baton is still being carried forward. Nevertheless, the netting of the 300th victory was just a matter of time, but the question was who would chart the milestone? The answer was finally delivered on the track of Texas.
It was Kyle Larson who led for 99 laps with one of the fastest cars on the grid. However, his No.5 Chevrolet got loose in Turn 1 before he got shoved into the outside wall. This threw a spanner in the works and cost the driver a potential victory. It was the emerging driver, William Byron, who took charge of the race and drove to victory lane for the sixth time in the season, after leading for just the final six laps of the race.
Owing to this, the NASCAR Insider, Kenny Wallace, on his YouTube show, revealed his thoughts on the clinical victory of the young prodigy. He expressed, “William Byron, the little school kid. Remember the couple of three years ago, you were like ‘What the h*ll is Rick Hendrick doing to hiring William Byron. He is a little child.’ Kid’s grown up, he has got it done this year.”
“I am gonna tell you what six wins, I don’t care what you think of him. He can be boring all he wants but I like William Byron because I talked to William Byron,” said Wallace, hinting that he would have to make a whole new episode just to talk about his interaction with the 25-year-old.

Driving the iconic No.24 Chevrolet which once belonged to the Hall of Famer Jeff Gordon, William Byron is assuredly doing justice to the car. With six victories in one season, the ace is on the verge of surpassing the record of Jeff Gordon.
Nevertheless, in his post-race interview, Byron expressed, “We’ve just been kind of steady Eddie through the first three or four races and we haven’t shown any flashes, but today I thought we had a good car if we could have just get to the front. At the end there we were really fast.”
“Mr. Hendrick for his investment in me, and telling me at 17 years old that he was going to take me to Cup racing. So just appreciate everything he’s done for me. This is awesome.”
