We have heard multiple stories of when famous and well-established NASCAR drivers turned from their prime careers and turned into entrepreneurs. But how many have heard a professional driver turning to the world of radio? With a career graph that has amassed a total of 173 top-10 finishes over a 30-year career, Kyle Petty has taken up the role of a commentator.
However, given his inner passion and the zeal to keep his creative aura alive, he has finally made it to the radio. This is a completely new venture and would dive deep into the world of country music. While drivers are often worried about shifting professional gears, it seems that Petty is as fearless in real life as he was on the tracks.

Kyle Petty and Beasley Media join hands
There was conjecture in the world of NASCAR that Kyle Petty had some new plans for 2025 and a lot of people even speculated that it wasn’t related to racing. Kudos to them! However, nothing was official. Recently, a formal announcement was made where it was official that Kyle Petty would be joining hands with Beasley Media’s “Country 103.7”. He will be joining hands with popular WSOC Charlotte afternoon radio personalities, Charlie and Debbie Nance.
The show will be airing across the country and the central idea is to revisit the top 12 country songs. Along with the song, one can also find some historical anecdotes that will add to the experience. Speaking of the journey that unfolds, Petty said, “I am as excited for this new chapter as I ever was at the start of every new NASCAR season. Everyone knows I love racing, but I have loved country music for just as long. Watching Marty Robbins sing at the Opry and drive a race car opened up a world of possibilities for a 12-year-old from Level Cross, N.C. I have been blessed to do both in my life”.
Speaking of how ecstatic he is about the opportunity to work with his colleagues, Petty added, “And working with Charlie and Debbie on this project is icing on the cake. They are amazing broadcasters, and I can’t wait to go ‘back then again’ with them every week”. While Petty has long been a fixture on the NASCAR scene, both on the track and as an analyst, this new role signals a shift in focus. Certainly, it is not a farewell to racing but rather an expansion of his passion for storytelling and entertainment. The radio countdown show allows him to tap into the world of country music – his love. It also brings fans along for a nostalgic ride through the country’s greatest hits.

Even Charlie and Debbie shared how they felt sharing the station with Richard Petty’s son. They said, “We are beyond thrilled to team up with PRN and Kyle Petty for this exciting new project. NASCAR and country music have always shared a loyal fan base, so this collaboration makes perfect sense”. Speaking of the impact that Petty has in the world of NASCAR, they further added, “And you can’t mention NASCAR without immediately thinking of the Petty name. So, having the opportunity to partner with Kyle Petty is truly an honor. We’re already having so much fun working together, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone”.

He marks the milestone by signing the 1 millionth coat. It was a blue children’s jacket that Petty presented to Chris Edwards, CEO of the program.
