NASCAR provided the fans with an entertaining weekend yet again. As the contact-filled Cup Series playoff race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway ended, some drivers were happy with what they could take away, and some not so much. In an unfortunate incident, Kyle Larson, who led the most laps in the race, crashed into the sand barrels in the pit lane. Another driver who faced a similar fate was Rick Ware Racing’s #15, JJ Yeley.

The 47-year-old veteran has had to experience the harsher side of Cup Series racing during his time with the #15 team. However, the turbulent times haven’t shaken him enough to drop his plans to return to the competition in 2024. As the season finale at Phoenix inches closer than ever, Yeley discusses his future and the viability of his plans.

In the 222nd lap of the race, the grid was fresh off a restart triggered by the red flag that came out following Larson’s crash in the pit lane. With cars that are close to each other on the high lane, a minor contact could turn out to be a major disaster.

Legacy Motor Club’s latest recruit, John Hunter Nemechek, initiated a series of accidents after nudging into the #1 Chevy of Ross Chastain. The impact then spread to JJ Yeley, who went headfirst into the wall after receiving impact at his left door.

The backstretch incident forced Yeley to retire early and limp out with a P33 finish, along with other crash-affected drivers like Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr.

JJ Yeley has been making the rounds in the NASCAR community and has been in the news for showing his support to the war-affected victims in the Middle Eastern region of the world. The 47-year-old partnered with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews to promote peace and send a message through his latest livery paint scheme.

Rick Ware Racing unveiled their future plans earlier this season. A collaboration with RFK Racing will see them acquire the services of Kaulig Racing driver Justin Haley. This raises the question about JJ Yeley and his future in the #15 car. Speaking about it after the race in Miami, he explained, ” There’s lots of plans. There’s always a plan.

“Making them come to fruition is a little bit more difficult so you know, I’m finishing out the rest of the year in the Rick Ware Racing #15. The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews will be back on the car next week in Martinsville and then Patriot Mobile will be on for the finale in Phoenix so as we continue to talk with sponsors and try to get everything solidified for 2024.”
