What a race! The Michigan race had it all—thrills, drama, and Tyler Reddick’s remarkable consistency. This win, Reddick’s second of the season, catapulted him to the top of the standings. It was especially meaningful for the 23XI star driver, who was emotionally affected by the recent loss of dirt car legend Scott Bloomquist.
In honor of his mentor, Reddick dedicated the victory to Bloomquist, saying in his post-race interview, “The last couple of days have been tough. This really helps it. This win should go for him, his family, and friends.”
However, as Reddick and his family & friends commemorated the new No. 1 in the driver’s ranking, the celebrations were wild and well-deserved. Tyler Reddick’s phenomenal 2024 season is definitely worth a grand celebration!

Celebrating the rain-delayed win that ended Ford’s 9-race dominance
The Michigan race, which resumed after a rain delay, saw Tyler Reddick starting from P5. Despite a controversial yellow flag on lap 194 due to Martin Truex Jr. hitting the wall, Reddick battled hard. The race went into second overtime after a crash involving Ross Chastain. William Byron briefly led, but Reddick surged back to the front, marking the 26th lead change. With eleven top 5s and seventeen top 10 finishes this season, averaging 10.5, Reddick’s career-best performance was a thrilling victory deserving of a big celebration!
The celebrations kicked off right at the track with an epic burnout and continued with a lively evening of drinks with friends and family. And Reddick’s friends made sure the fun didn’t end before tossing him into the swimming pool! Reddick shared the joyous moments on X, giving fans a glimpse of all the excitement and fun.

One of Reddick’s friends in the video is Matthew Lombardi, who, in a playful jest, was dubbed the “boyfriend” by Reddick’s newlywed wife, Alexa. She kept fans updated on the festivities through her Instagram stories, and the last one was a real gem. Posted after 8 hours, likely the next morning, it showed Reddick’s checkered flag from the FireKeepers Casino 400 sticking to the kitchen hood and partially folded—proof that the No. 45 driver truly brought the race’s wild energy into his celebrations!
With a weekend full of rain and fire, Reddick’s celebrations were just as intense, but definitely in his favor!
Jokes apart, the consistency from Tyler Reddick has made the 23XI team hopeful of getting their first Cup Series championship. This would also be a first for the two-time Xfinity Championship. However, on the other hand, his teammate Bubba Wallace, despite running consistently, failed to get a good finish at Michigan. Currently, his playoff chances hang in the balance.

The same came, different result debate continues with Reddick’s dominance. Wallace was riding a wave of success heading into the Michigan race. He had consistently finished in the top 10, with two top-5 finishes, in recent races. This had put him above the playoff cutoff line, but after the race, he again found himself below it.
Bubba Wallace is still searching for his first win of the season and his first since the 2022 Talladega race. A win would solidify things, as there are still 4 spots left thanks to his teammate taking the checkered flag.

After the rain delay, Bubba had a P3 start; at one point he had also spectacularly taken the lead. But he could not capitalize on it as he finished 26th at the FireKeepers Casino 400. Bubba is, however, still hopeful of qualifying. In a post-race interview, he said, “Two more left. Didn’t matter if we ran second today, still got to more left.”
Despite his recent strong performances, Wallace currently sits outside the playoff picture in 17th place. However, he is only one point behind Ross Chastain for the final playoff spot. A solid showing in the upcoming races at Daytona and Darlington could significantly improve Wallace’s playoff chances. What do you think are the #23’s chances of qualifying for the playoffs?
