Thankfully, Austin Dillon emerged from the wreck unharmed, but his disappointment and anger over the racing accident were palpable. In an impulsive and controversial move, Dillon expressed frustration by hurling his helmet toward Tyler Reddick’s #45 Toyota.

Tyler Reddick shed light on the incident in a post-race interview with renowned motorsports journalist Bob Pockrass. “I knew we didn’t have a lot of room, but I definitely wasn’t trying to squeeze him or run him up the racetrack or anything like that. You know, there’s plenty of ways to look back at it and analyze it. Certainly, I’ll look at some team’s regular settings to see what happened beyond just the replay. But yeah, by the time I realized he was going to be coming down across the racetrack the way that he was, I tried to go right to the brake pedal, but it was too late. And, you know, the contact was made.”

Curiosity loomed as Pockrass asked, “Were you surprised he was that angry?

“Not certainly but you know I know for especially after I’ve seen the replay that that hit into the wall not feel good. So we’ll figure it out. Yeah, I had a lined up. I kind of. I kind of knew it was coming, so I was ready for it.” Tyler Reddick replied calmly.

Dillon emerged unscathed from the wreckage, walking away from the incident alone. Yet, the adrenaline-fueled outburst made headlines and sparked comparisons to a similar incident involving Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth in 2012.
