23XI Racing‘s road racing sensation, Tyler Reddick, thumps the Joe Gibbs Racing sensation to register a spectacular stage win at Phoenix. Despite starting out from the front row and leading the field for the most part in the first stage of the race, young JGR sensation Ty Gibbs couldn’t hold off the #45 Toyota’s advance as it sped into the finish line to pick up valuable stage points.
Tyler Reddick clinched his first ever stage win of 2024
The Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway was Toyota’s turf, with JGR veteran Denny Hamlin occupying the pole and his teammate and Joe Gibbs’ grandson Ty Gibbs starting from the second position. As the race unraveled in the first stage, it certainly looked like the Toyotas had the upper hand, with 21-year-old Gibbs taking the lead from his teammate early on in the very first lap, passing the veteran in turn 4.

The #54 Toyota looked solid in the lead, with the young driver fending off challenges from Erik Jones. However, as the war waged on, Reddick put in a stellar run to pass Jones to the second position from where he passed Gibbs, using the bottom to clear the #54 car for the lead in lap 58, subsequently winning stage 1 of the feature and earning his first ever stage win of 2024.
However, soon came in another Toyota. The #20 Camry of Christopher Bell expertly navigated his way through traffic to show everybody how it’s done.

After passing fellow Toyota driver Ty Gibbs to win stage 1, Reddick continued his top run into stage 2, running at the top. The #45 continued his dominance throughout the second stage, running at the top and challenging the race leader multiple times. But in the end, it was the ever-consistent #20 JGR driver, Christopher Bell, who won stage 2 of the race.
Often touted as one of the best road racers in the current generation, Bell proved his mettle, putting on a show with a rally to catch up to Hamlin and Reddick in the third on lap 166. Christopher Bell then passed the #11 Toyota, only to overtake the 23XI Racing Toyota of Reddick in lap 181 and kept the lead till lap 187 to win stage 2 of the race.
