The NASCAR and IndyCar joint weekend at Indianapolis is one of the most anticipated race weekends in the entire calendar year for motorsports fans. Two different types of motorsports on one track in the same weekend, that is one of the best things a fan can expect. While some drivers are in favor, Tyler Reddick also believes that NASCAR and IndyCar should come together and give something to the fans in that case.

In a pre-race press conference, Reddick was asked how he felt about the NASCAR and IndyCar double header coming to an end. The 23XI Racing driver, who was the winner at Indianapolis last year, will be looking to win at the iconic circuit for the second year in a row. Answering the aforementioned question, the No. 45 Toyota Camry driver said that even if it does not continue to happen at Indianapolis, NASCAR and IndyCar should do a double header somewhere else for the fans.

Great opportunity for crews, drivers, and fans, emphasized Tyler Reddick

“I hope if it does go from here, that we do find some other place to do it on the schedule going forward. Both series at the same place is a great opportunity for the drivers, crews and fans to experience both,” the No. 45 driver said.

Tyler Reddick loves racing at Indianapolis, as is evident by his recent results on the track. Last year, he was the winner of the Cup Series race, and this year, he seemed quite pacey in qualifying.

The 23XI Racing driver will start the race in second place on the grid behind Daniel Suarez. It presents him with a fantastic opportunity to retain his crown at the iconic venue. He also shared an emotional experience from last season when asked what it was like to win at Indianapolis.

“This is just an incredible venue. It has been around for so long. It has so much history. It is pretty crazy to roll up on this place. My son pointed out that I’m on the grandstands over here. It’s pretty surreal, I remember so much of it. These memories will always stay with me,” Reddick further added.

While Reddick said later on that there was no point in racing on ovals if cars could not pass each other, one person who wants the oval back is former NASCAR Cup Series Champion and veteran racer Kyle Busch.

Speaking at a pre-race press conference, Busch said that a return to the ovals would be something he and a lot of other drivers and crew chiefs would prefer over the road course.

“But you know, if I’m being selfish, I think many of us drivers, crews and everything else, we’d rather be coming here and racing around the oval with the prestige and the history of what the oval is. Even though we’re at Indy, it just doesn’t really feel like it’s the same thing going the wrong way,” the Richard Childress Racing driver said.
