Too much has happened for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) in the last six months. Most notably, the arrival of Kyle Busch and the departure of Tyler Reddick meant a drastic change in the team’s dynamics. The latter joined 23XI Racing with RCR unexpectedly releasing him a year early. Recently, Reddick enlightened the listeners about the events involving this transfer. From what one can understand, Reddick seems to be experiencing a range of emotions, weaving together feelings of a sad departure in the past and a hope for a silver lining in the future.
What happened with Reddick was unfortunate. Being the tranquil person that he is, he didn’t make any fuss about it and joined Denny Hamlin‘s 23XI Racing. That being said, the former JR Motorsports driver explained his state of mind to his former boss.

The young driver was recently present on The Dale Jr. Download podcast. He spoke candidly with Dale Earnhardt Jr about how his move to 23XI Racing happened in a hurry and left him with a regret. Reddick said, “So yeah it’s speeded up a little bit and honestly, I hate that I kinda didn’t get to finish that last year with the team and those guys but it worked out perfectly for them.”
The 27-year-old added how RCR has done well by going for Kyle Busch. He said, “They got one of the best drivers out there in Kyle Busch. So I was worried about that hole that might be there for them [RCR] but they got a really good driver and they have already won. So I think it all really worked out.”
Lastly, he reiterated his alliance with his current team. Reddick said, “Denny [Hamlin] wants that team to grow into championship caliber and he wanted me to be a part of it. And I wanted to be a part of that too and with him and Michael and Kurt. I’m at 23XI now, I’m working with Toyota now. And we want to start building on the foundation of what we wanna grow and build in together.”
Reddick’s shift of focus toward 23XI Racing is that of an eternal optimist. There is no question that Hamlin and Reddick can have a great partnership here. Even more so, because of the former’s belief in the latter.
