For Ty Majeski, bad luck doesn’t seem to run out. The 29-year-old Truck Series driver took part in the Bill Bigley Sr Memorial 128 on Saturday and for the second year in a row, was robbed of a potential win. The race was won by Jett Noland for whom it was perhaps the biggest win of his career so far.

The 8th edition of the event saw an exciting race in which 20-year-old Noland made the race-winning pass on Johnny Sauter with 17 laps to go. At one point, it seemed as if Sauter would record a dominant victory as he took the lead on lap 15 and maintained his position until he was passed on the final run.

As far as Ty Majeski is concerned, it was another Bigley 128 race that he would want to forget. After coming off an underwhelming Truck Series campaign, the 29-year-old was in desperate need of a victory so that he could gain back his confidence. However, it was just not meant to be. It was the same situation last year as well.

In the 2022 edition of the race, Ty Majeski had actually taken the checkered flag and believed that he won the $30,000 prize money. But his jubilation soon turned to disappointment. Majeski was disqualified from the event after a post-race inspection of his car due to some technical breaches.

Things weren’t as heartbreaking this year as the 29-year-old’s chance to take the win was ruined during the race itself. Ty Majeski was running P2 when he made an error of judgment and made contact with the wall at Freedom Factory. It happened before the final caution which resulted in a tire rub and a serious loss of pace. He fell from P2 and could only finish the race in P9.

However, for Jett Noland, it was a day that will live in his memory for years to come. The 20-year-old won his first race outside the New Smyrna Speedway. It was a major breakthrough for Noland who earned the $30,000 prize money in a highly prestigious race.

After the event, Noland was ecstatic as he looked back on his struggles in 2023 and ahead to the next event he will be taking part in at the Derby. The 20-year-old drove part-time in the Truck Series this season as well for Niece Motorsports.

“We just got a great run … it’s been a bit of a struggle this year and the team kept working,” Noland said as per Short Track Scene. “Hopefully we’ll end it up on a good note and now we’re headed to the Derby and hopefully can end it on an even bigger note.”

As far as Ty Majeski is concerned, he will have to contest for the Bigley 128 win again next year. The 29-year-old failed to make it to the championship race in Phoenix, which was disappointing for a driver of his caliber. It will be interesting to see how he bounces back from this series of unfortunate events in the near future.
