With only four laps remaining in the 56th Annual Snowball Derby, one man pulled away from the pack after enduring 300 laps of pure chaos! Ty Majeski showed promising signs of entering the weekend after qualifying for P2, slotting in behind reigning winner Derek Thorn. While Derek Thorn was out of the picture for much of the race, Majeski delivered a super late-model masterclass.

Fending off Bubba Pollard and chasing down Stephen Nasse during lap 20, Ty Majeski evaded Noah Gragson’s self-inflicted mishap and jumped Nasse on the restart! But that wasn’t the end of the incredible rollercoaster! With no major announcement of his 2024 campaign, Majeski laid down one last bid in 2023 at the Snowball Derby.

With only 12 laps remaining, Stephen Nasse had overcome Majeski in their battle but succumbed to a crash with Bubba Pollard on Lap 7, bringing out the caution, which turned into a red flag. However, Gio Ruggerio made his way through the field after running 2 laps down at the start, making Ty Majeski the favorite once again and sealing his dominance only a few laps later!

Taking the Tom Dawson trophy back to Wisconsin, the Snowball Derby winner said, “It’s hard to do. You can’t ever be fast enough to win this race!  Felt like we actually had the best long-run car today. We were really strong at the end of the runs. Thought we had Nasse there right before that caution came out with about 20 to go. It came down to a short run, we made adjustments to the car to make it better. I still don’t know if we could’ve won on that short run but anything happens at Snowball. You just have to be in the game, right?

With a race as chaotic as the Snowball Derby, the win could have gone to any of the top five drivers. Stock-car legend Bubba Pollard was posing a real threat to Ty Majeski and Nasse for much of the race. If it weren’t for Gragson’s disaster and Pollard’s car mangling itself around Nasse’s car, the battle to the top would have been far more fierce. While many drivers lost out to the weekend’s shenanigans, like Carson Kvapil, the ultimate winners amidst the chaos were the fans!

Ty Majeski added, “You got to be in the top 5 when it’s go time, and anything can happen. It was a hell of a race between Nasse and I, you fans must have loved that one. That’s a hell of a race between a lot of great race cars and drivers, so, just so happy to be here.”

This win was not only sweeter than ever for Ty Majeski, owing to the adrenaline rush the heart-stopping moments created, but it also came at brilliant timing as we head into the silly season ahead of the 2024 season. For months, he has been linked to a potential drive in the Truck Series. And after a display of excellence of this magnitude, it’s only safe to assume Majeski is a driver for the teams with vacancies to keep a watchful eye on.

Adding to his on-track dominance, Ty Majeski was quick to show just how loyal a man of his caliber can be to a team that can give him a competent drive. Without skipping a beat, he paid his respects to the team that kick-started his journey as a star in the sport.

Majeski continued, “It’s so special. This is actually our tenth year coming down here. This crew behind me, you know we have our original crew back with us. These guys really made my career, and that’s what is special about this team is they’re everything and the reason why I’m able to live my dream and make a living driving race cars and just such a blessing to still be able to come with them and win races together as a family.

Not only did Ty Majeski commend the team behind his second win at the Five Flags Speedway, but the man of the hour had some kind words for his sim-racing sponsor, iRacing. Majeski had been practicing on a couple of events leading up to the Snowball Derby, which he felt helped out a ton!
