The 2024 NASCAR season ended a month ago, and the off-season has already begun. Many drivers are enjoying and making the most of their well-deserved off-season break, as this is the time to sit back, relax, and unwind. Whether it’s about giving time to family, with Christmas just around the corner, exploring new things, or enjoying some holiday adventures internationally, these three months give drivers a good amount of time to unwind before going back to the grind and grit of another racing season. For Ty Gibbs, however, the off-season is more than just chilling. He has rather taken this time to explore his crazy talents in ways that his fans never expected.
Ty Gibbs shows off crazy skiing skills
Yesterday, Ty Gibbs took to his Instagram to post some pictures from his recent holiday outings. Although it’s unclear where he has gone, he can definitely be seen skiing. Gibbs, known for his daring maneuvers on the NASCAR track, also posted a jaw-dropping video on Instagram that left his fans shocked. The small 10-second reel showcased the 22-year-old pulling off a risky daredevil stunt while skiing, where he subtly slid through a narrow gap between the legs of another skier—all while smiling.

Gibbs’ skiing stunt most certainly stands out in this off-season in comparison to other drivers. If we are to draw parallels to other NASCAR drivers who’ve been known to do crazy things during the off-season, then Tony Stewart comes to mind when, one time, he went go-karting on literal ice in the middle of a frozen lake. Or that one time when Clint Bowyer, during his off-season, took a spin in a monster truck at a local event. He jumped ramps, crushed some cars, all while flashing his trademark smile. Also, this one time Brad Keselowski jumped over a series of ramps with his car as part of a stunt event. Like these drivers, Gibbs is no stranger to challenging himself outside of racing, showing that his competitive spirit is not limited to the tracks.
The off-season is meant for drivers to take some time off to rejuvenate and build back better. But Gibbs’ video proves he’s not just taking time off, but pushing himself beyond his limits. It’s this willingness to take risks that sets him apart as a rookie from others and may be a sign of a new approach to his racing career. And fans were floored after seeing his stunt.
Fans pleasantly surprised by Ty Gibbs’ Maneuver
As expected, the video of Ty Gibbs’ had his fans going gaga in the comment section, sparking a barrage of praises. Fans quickly filled the comment section with excitement and admiration for Gibbs’ maneuver. One jubilant fan wrote – “That was a pretty cool video. It looks like you’re having a fantastic time in your off-season. Have a Merry Christmas and an amazing New Year.” Wishing Gibbs well for the holiday season.
Being the grandson of NASCAR legend, Joe Gibbs doesn’t make his life any easier. If anything, he is more likely to be scrutinized than any other driver. The unbearable weight of massive talent lies heavy on him, and his critics don’t let him forget that. But to the contrary, in a sweet moment a fan admitted in the comments – “I didn’t start out as a fan of you, but lately I’ve been liking you more and more,” suggesting that he most likely used to be one of them haters.
Amongst all the frenzy, there were a few who added some humor in the comments to make them even more wholesome. As one fan wrote – “Do not try this at home. These are professionals”. Implying a sarcastic compliment at Gibbs’ talents. Adding on to the humor, one fan likened his move to something edible: “That’s a nice wide pizza.” Surely they don’t mean it in a literal way, but in a visual way one can see the resemblance.
These comments definitely reflect fans’ appreciation for Gibbs’ skills but also highlight his growing popularity since his rookie years. With many of these fans expressing admiration for his bold and daring attitude, it’s clear that his boldness off the track is also leaving an impression. And as the 2025 season approaches, many of his admirers hope for him to come back even stronger than before and put up a great display of skills, topping his performance from the 2024 season.
