Ty Gibbs Put “Dumba**” Hendrick Motorsports Driver on a Blast in Kansas

NASCAR races have always been known for their high-intensity action both on and off the track. Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway was no exception, with the drama unfolding not just during the race but also after the checkered flag had flown. One incident that has caught the attention of many is the radio message from Ty Gibbs, who called out a Hendrick Motorsports driver.

Ty Gibbs Calls Out Hendrick Motorsport Driver

Gibbs, who is the grandson of team owner Joe Gibbs, had a frustrating day at the track after an incident with Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman’s replacement Josh Berry who sent him spinning and clipping Chris Buescher. As the race drew to a close, Gibbs took to his radio and said, “What a dumba**! That dumba** ran three people into the fence in the last five laps.”

Although Gibbs was not alone in expressing his frustration. Rick Carelli, former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Driver and the spotter for Erik Jones, said, “Knew that #48 was going to lose the right rear because of the way he hit” 

Talking about the incident in a post-race interview, Gibbs acknowledged that he did not have all the facts and was willing to learn from the experience. Gibbs stated, “I’ve not seen a replay at this moment, but I think the 48 got a touch tight and it washed up into me and got me really loose, and I came back down and got up. That’s the evidence of getting loose from the contact there.”

Gibbs also admitted that he was frustrated but was happy with the way his car ran. He said, “Definitely was frustrating, I think the 20 got fenced too in the same situation. Just learning and keep moving on. I don’t think I’ve heard anything, I think we lost a little bit of the left front swinger, but we were really fast then there when I spun the car into 19, but we were back up front so I was happy with the way my car ran. We just have to find the balance a little bit better, and we’ll be going after it. I could be really angry, but I’m just happy we were running up front.”

In the third stage, Truex made contact with Gibbs, causing him to spin out and sustain significant damage, resulting in the eighth caution of the race and ending Gibbs’ day prematurely.
