During an interview, Busch revealed, “I feel hopeful. I know I have more doctor visits and distance to go, and I keep pushing each week. And TPC, Toyota Performance Center, has been a group of angels with the workouts and the vestibular workouts, different nutrition as well and different supplements and things to help everything rebalance with my vision, my hearing. Just my overall balance in general.”

He also added, “Each situation is different. It’s similar to a breast cancer survivor. Not every story is the same, and not every injury is the same. It’s not like a broken arm and then you get the cast taken off and can go bench press 300 pounds. It’s a process. I don’t know what journey I’m on, but I’m going to keep pushing.”

Busch had suffered a brain injury after his hard hit during the qualifying rounds at Pocono Raceway. Ever since the 2004 NASCAR Cup Champion has not been able to race and was being replaced by Ty Gibbs. However, the latest reports suggested that he believes he can make a return well before the end of the ongoing season. If Busch were to return earlier than expected that would also mean that Ty Gibbs would be left without a place in the Cup Series and would have to wait for a proper full-time contract instead.

Busch’s contract remains valid throughout 2023 and also has an option for an extension into the 2024 season. But knowing that Tyler Reddick would be headed to 23XI Racing in 2024, there might be a chance that he would not extend his contract beyond next year. However, possibilities remain wide open, as there has not been an official statement regarding that situation.
