The 2023 season ended with a bang for most, including Bubba Wallace, who made it into playoffs for the first time, and Ryan Blaney, who took his first Cup title home this year. But sadly, the same can not be said for Ty Dillon. Ending up in the 32nd spot with zero wins and no top-5 or top-10 finishes, the 31-year-old, at the very least, had a lackluster campaign. And this is probably what led him to lose his Spire Motorsport seat. However, these unfortunate series of events may not have ended for Richard Childress’s grandson just yet.

With Spire parting ways with the driver, one could say the writing was on the wall. Still, there was a seat for him in the sport, as was pointed out by Dale Earnhardt Jr in his podcast. But now, even that speck of hope is taken away from the North Carolina native.

Spire Motorsports has already named Carson Hocevar as their new driver for the #77 Chevy, replacing Ty Dillon in 2024. Following this, Dale Jr came out with a bold prediction, reassuring Dillon’s fans that Kaulig Racing would bring him on board for their Xfinity Series campaign. However, recent news suggests otherwise.

Talking about the same with a fan on X, NASCAR Journalist Matt Weaver wrote, “I think so too but everyone thinks they know who is going to other Kaulig Cup car and that’s not true” before he keyed in with a major update. As per Weaver, Kaulig Racing signing Ty Dillon was false information. “… Dale has been told that too. Sh*t, we were told that information was incorrect the same day and the same place,” he wrote.

As of now, Kaulig Racing has their veteran AJ Allmendinger in the #16 Chevy, looking to build on his 2023 performance in the upcoming season, and the team’s seats are pretty much filled in the Xfinity Series. So is there any room for Dillon in Kaulig?

The short answer is no. But let’s not abandon all hopes. Now comes the driver’s best option. From a fan’s perspective, Ty Dillon certainly can do a lot if he drops down to the Xfinity series, where he has won a race. But at the moment, that too seems like a far stretch considering that RCR has locked on to their 2024 driver lineup. Where do you think the 31-year-old will end up?
