Now that Dale Earnhardt Jr is not racing full-time, he has dedicated himself to a commentary gig. Needless to say, Dale Jr has managed to make a name for himself in the commentary booth too. There were numerous gripping moments during the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series, and it seems Dale Jr is among the more easily excitable commentators. Both he and Jeff Burton are making rounds on social media because of their enthusiastic outbursts.

The 2022 Cup season was heavily laced with memorable incidents on the track. From spins to collisions to “The Big One” wrecks, the season gave us everything and more. One of the more memorable ones was the infamous clash between Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace. In addition to that, there was the famous “Hail Melon” moment when Ross Chastain pulled off a wall ride to end all wall rides. All of these had one thing in common though—they were all immediately followed by Junior and Burton wildly exclaiming “Oh!”

How did fans react to Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Burton’s enthusiasm?

Many fans enjoyed the dumbfounded and “mind-blown” expressions on Junior and Burton’s faces during the spins and wrecks. The moment that elicited most responses was the look on Dale Jr’s face when Ross Chastain made his incredible move. But most of all, fans shared their desire to see more of Dale Jr in the commentary booth—the races seem all the more interesting when he is calling.

A fan cheekily wondered whether Dale Jr should legally change his name to “Dale OHardt Jr.” There were also a few who compared the NBC broadcast with Fox’s broadcast. They found the former much superior, using the stock car movies Days of Thunder and Talladega Nights as analogies.

One thing is for sure, Chastain’s last-gasp move rendered everybody awestruck. It is also worth mentioning that a fan made a hilarious analogy of Earnhardt Jr and Burton’s enthusiasm. The fan wrote, “They sound like two twelve year old boys seeing their first naked woman.” To be honest, if Dale Jr and Jeff Burton’s commentary and fans’ reactions are this good, the 2023 season cannot come soon enough.
