2025 NASCAR schedule: Are you more excited for Rockingham's revival or Portland's second chance?

The rumors are true! Rockingham Speedway will make its return to the NASCAR Schedule in 2025. After over a decade-long hiatus, the 1.017-mile North Carolina racetrack, lovingly known as ‘The Rock,’ will go Xfinity & Trucks racing. But there’s a “real possibility for a Cup race in ‘26 and ‘27,” as per the owner.

These new bearings have left the NASCAR nation in collective amusement. You could tell from the replies to Bob Pockrass‘ initial Twitter update on Rockingham’s return. Beyond that, there are a few other interesting changes to next year’s NASCAR Xfinity & Truck Series calendars. Here’s all the info you need on them.

Amid all the buzz about NASCAR’s Cup schedule hosting a Mexico City points paying date in 2025, the other two National Touring Series have made their own emphatic adjustments. As per Bob Pockrass’ Twitter post, the tracks added to the 2025 Xfinity schedule are Rockingham, Mexico City, Gateway,” whereas “Richmond, Darlington (now one), (and) New Hampshire” won’t be returning the following year.

As for updates on the 2025 Craftsman Truck Series? Pockrass informs the collective community: “Trucks up to 25 races. Add Rockingham, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, and New Hampshire. … loses Gateway and one Kansas.” The notable additions to both those series schedules combined are, without a doubt, Rockingham, Mexico City, and Lime Rock Park. Although Rockingham and Mexico City have seen their fair share of NASCAR National action, The Lakeville-based road course will race a top-3 series event for the first time since Thompson Speedway hosted Connecticut’s last Grand National race in 1970.

As Lime Rock Park CEO, Dicky Riegel rightfully said in an official statement, “To say that we are excited about this announcement is a major understatement, as this will surely be the biggest event in Lime Rock Park’s history.” Likewise, Rockingham Speedway owner Dan Lovenheim proudly announced the racetrack’s double-header return stating, “Our team has put a tremendous amount of work and resources into modernizing the property and providing the area with a destination to be proud of… We’ve refreshed the entire facility and are eager to show race fans what we’ve done. We’re looking forward to partnering with Track Enterprises and NASCAR to host the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series over Easter Weekend.”

Besides that, Portland retains its 2025 Xfinity Series date, disregarding any speculations. The regular season championship races for the Xfinity & Truck Series will take place at WWT Raceway & Richmond, respectively. As for the championship race? All three series will race at Phoenix around the first week of November. For more details on the dates, check out Bob Pockrass’ Twitter update provided above. But on that note, the fans have been flooding the social media platform after hearing about these exciting developments.
