Stewart-Haas Racing’s crew chief for Kevin Harvick, Rodney Childers, had apparently posted a tweet stating the problems with the new lug nuts being used with the next-gen cars after a bad pit stop saw Kevin Harvick eliminated from the playoffs at Bristol.

Childers originally tweeted, “After further review and watching our pit stop in 1/8th speed, our guys had a perfect stop. Our changer did nothing wrong, actually everything was perfect. The detents on the LF hub wouldn’t go in and let the socket go back on. So there’s that..”
Childers had stated that the problem was not with their pit crew members instead it was the new lug nuts creating the problems. Harvick had been an unlucky victim of the lug nut, which saw his tire fall out shortly after a pitstop at Bristol Motor Speedway. Strangely, Childers later deleted the tweet containing the video that showed how the gun operator placed the lug nut.

“Looks like the tweet has been deleted, interesting”
“Single-lug wheels have been a disaster for Nascar”
“He’d be well within his rights. He has nothing left to prove, after the ridiculous 2020 non-championship and this year’s shenanigans”
“Crappy Ass Parts strike again?”
“Nascar made the rules, sole, and now has to live with the criticism. My guess is that right or wrong, in years past teams only had themselves to blame on many failures so they didn’t do it publicly.”
“That’s so frustrating. He had such a fast car and really deserved to be racing at the end. A part failure costing him a spot at the next round is just garbage. Nascar has to do better.”
