Layne Riggs, the driver of the No. 38 Ford F-150, made headlines at the LiUNA! 175 race at the Milwaukee Mile. At the start of 2024, he moved from Spire Motorsports to Front Row Motorsports, and it looks like it was the right decision for both the team and the driver. At just 22, Riggs achieved a significant milestone in his NASCAR Truck Series career by securing his first career victory at the Milwaukee Mile.
He entered the race 15th in the points standings and was not considered a top contender for the win. This only made his win much sweeter for him, as did his celebration. The first win is something drivers remember forever, and this one will be all the more memorable, as while celebrating his win, something goes terribly wrong with his shoulder. So let’s take a look at what happened with Riggs right after his first win.

Layne Riggs celebrates a little too hard
After securing a surprising win, Riggs celebrated by climbing on top of his truck and performing fist bumps in Victory Lane. His excitement exceeded the limits of his body, as he appeared to be in significant pain as he got out of the truck. The 38 team quickly came to his aid, and it was learned that he dislocated his shoulder with his first bump. The crew helped him reset his dislocated shoulder, and the celebration continued with less energy.
As Layne Riggs later spoke to FOX Sports about the incident, acknowledging the severity of his injury while maintaining a positive outlook, he said, “I dislocated my shoulder. I was celebrating so hard, It hurts like a mug, but it was worth it. It’s not the first time it’s happened to me, but it ain’t going to slow me down.”

Although his shoulder was dislocated, it did not stop him from continuing to celebrate his first stock racing experience. Not only the driver, but the team and sponsors joined in, as starting from P15, the chances of winning the race were quite slim.

The energy of celebration did not end once the jumping was over, as Riggs took the mic to talk about how he felt. Starting off by saying, “I don’t even know how to describe it,” he moved on to thank their new sponsor, “Zorn who was on the truck this weekend. It was their first race and it’s awesome for them and Love’s Travel Stops. It’s awesome.”
Bob Jenkins and Jerry Freeze were paid compliments as they let Riggs drive the truck to victory. The Milwaukee Mile Race winner is in his first full-time season in the Truck Series, and he mentioned that he has learned a lot in his rookie year.
