Now the planes are accustomed to flying around the dragstrip with drivers and teams using them to reach the racing venue. Moreover, there is also a possibility of one of the planes from the air show being involved in this accident. For the time being, there’s no confirmation on how the crash happened or which planes were involved in this crash.

As it turns out, it was a single-engine Piper PA-32-300 passenger plane that crashed at the end of the racing venue. Three passengers are reported to have been transported to a local hospital after sustaining injuries from the crash. L.A. County Fire Department shared an update regarding the same on X.

“AIRCRAFT EMERGENCY | 2700 Fairplex Dr. | #Pomona | At 11:10 AM, #LACoFD units responded to a single engine plane down. 3 passengers transported to local area hospitals with moderate to severe injuries.” Now, this accident has halted the original plans at the track to get started with the festivities of the NHRA championship weekend.

NHRA also took to social media and stated that racing will be halted for the time being as they look to make a call on the mega event. “RACING UPDATE: Racing is currently on hold at the In-N-Out Burger #NHRAFinals. Stay tuned for further updates.” The drivers were also instructed to head back to their pits given the current circumstances at the track.

More deaths have been reported near the racing venue, with plane incidents tracing back to 2009 and 2005. Fortunately, this time around, the three passengers only sustained moderate injuries.
