After spending 15 long years with Joe Gibbs Racing, Kyle Busch had to part ways with them last year. It was heartbreaking to see the partnership end but it is what it is. Busch joined Richard Childress Racing and will be driving for them this season. Another transition that the 37-year-old is going through involves using a Chevrolet car instead of a long-time partner Toyota.

Kyle Busch has given Toyota some splendid memories during his time at JGR. He was their ambassador since the time he joined Joe Gibbs’ team. He also holds the record for the most number of wins in a Toyota across all three Championship series. It is a record difficult to break for years to come. Despite all the success, it did not end on the best terms between the car manufacturer and the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.

David Wilson gets slammed by the fans for his Kyle Busch comments

As is the case always ahead of every opening Daytona 500 race, representatives from the three NASCAR powerhouses Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota addressed the reporters. While a number of topics were discussed, there was very little chance of avoiding the Kyle Busch question.

Toyota Racing Development President David Wilson was asked if they’ll be missing Busch’s presence this season. To this, he replied, “There are days that we will miss Kyle [Busch] and there are days that we won’t. I’ll leave at that.”

Given what “Rowdy” Busch has done for Toyota in all these years, this statement from Wilson infuriated fans around the globe. There were some really creative comments on social media slamming Wilson.

It is no secret that Busch cherishes controversy in some fashion but his achievements have been more than commendable. No wonder the fans reacted the way they did.

The breakup between Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing wasn’t a sweet one at all. Busch’s farewell was in no way close to what he would have imagined after providing his service for 15 years.

At the same time, Richard Childress Racing has been very welcoming for the Nevada-born driver. They have tried to make Busch comfortable in order to get the best out of him.
