“Took the Line Away” – Tyler Reddick Fires Sarcastic Ross Chastain Joke at Dale Earnhardt Jr’s “Highway” Question

Tyler Reddick is coming off a great last season with Richard Childress Racing, winning three races in 2022. However, the two-time Xfinity Series champ was also involved in a number of wrecks that cost him some winning opportunities. Following his controversial exit from RCR, Reddick is slowly making his way to put in some impressive performances for his new team, 23XI Racing. While talking about keeping composure in tense situations, Tyler Reddick recently took a sarcastic jab at Ross Chastain when Dale Earnhardt Jr asked him an interesting question about driving on highways.

Tyler Reddick recently joined the co-hosts Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jared Allen on The Dale Jr. Download podcast. The trio discussed how Reddick has evolved as a driver in recent years and also talked about his transition from RCR to 23XI Racing. Moreover, Junior also asked a question to Reddick that prompted him to make a hilarious joke about Chastain.

Reddick’s highway joke about Ross Chastain

In the recent edition of The Dale Jr. Download podcast, Junior reckoned that he and Allen found it difficult to find moments when he had lost his cool or lashed out at another driver in the past. Moreover, the NASCAR legend inquired, “A guy cuts you off from the highway, you lose your sh*t?”

In response, Tyler Reddick claimed that he hardly ever gets angry while driving on the highway. He further shared that he did express his “displeasure” when somebody cut him off on the highway during his younger days. 

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old joked, “When I get cut off on the highway, like, it’s nothing against him, like, hopefully, he finds this funny. I’m like, ‘Oh, That’s Ross. He just took the line away. Here we go.’ I just wait my turn and maybe I’ll get back around this car a little bit later.”

Moreover, Dale Jr. asked Reddick if he ever had a run-in into Ross Chastain. The 23XI Racing driver replied that despite racing quite hard against one another, he and Chastain never came together on a race track. In addition, Junior also made a comment about Chastain that prompted Reddick to praise the Trackhouse Racing Team driver.

During the conversation, Dale Jr joked that every Cup Series driver’s reaction to them getting cut off on the highway would be to think that the driver is Ross Chastain. In response, Tyler Reddick clarified that he did not mean any disrespect to Chastain.

Reddick commended Ross Chastain for holding up Logano for several laps despite running on older tires last year in Las Vegas. Moreover, the #45 Toyota driver said, “So I mean, honestly, I say that as a compliment, like him and Brandon work really really well together on the roof and in the car.”
