Artificial intelligence (AI) and the constant development of technology are designed to make our everyday lives easier. However, there’s also a downside to this technological advancement, which can be leveraged by scammers online.

Even American racing star Tony Stewart and his wife, Leah Pruett, have found themselves in a tricky spot. Scammers online have used the names and identities of Stewart and the racing team to dupe the fans, demanding money. With several such incidents now surfacing online, Leah Pruett took this opportunity to educate people on how to safeguard themselves from scammers online.

As AI tools get more capable, it is becoming easier and more cost-efficient for scammers to create fake but convincing audio of people’s real voices. This is a widespread concern, especially for sports personas like Tony Stewart and his wife, Leah Pruett, who have been facing the brunt of this misuse of technology.

The former Top Fuel drag racer shared an Instagram reel that helped people understand how scammers are using generative voice tools to scam people. Sharing her personal experience, she wrote this via her Instagram stories. “Scamming is next level these days. I had something similar happened to me where ai is using my voice to ‘talk to fans’ to ask for money. All Fake! Stay alert people!”

Leah Pruett has some 375k followers only on Instagram. Whereas Stewart has some 250k followers himself. No wonder the scammers target such popular figures, and knowing that they have some ardent followers, they will eventually fall into their trap. Thus allowing them to carry out their illegal activities with the consent of real people.

On the other hand, Leah Pruett and Tony Stewart had a big breakthrough result in their 2024 NHRA season. The 53-year-old, who has replaced his wife, came ever-so-close to winning his first Top Fuel event at the Sonoma Raceway.

Competing in his rookie season, Tony Stewart entered the Sonoma Nationals with four first-round exits in the previous six Top Fuel events. However, he looked like his former self when he overcame every challenge in his way. He defeated Shawn Langdon in the opening round, then he pulled off a better reaction time to pipe Justin Ashley into making his way to the semi-finals. And reached the final round by getting better of Ron August.

But his hopes of the first victory in the TSR Dodge Dragster came to a crushing end as world champion Ashton Brown was on his A-game. Despite a relatively slower reaction time than his rival, Brown in his 11,000-powered Matco Tools/Toyota dragster helped him cross the finish line first. In doing so, Brown earned his 77th career win, and Stewart got his first real experience of competing for a victory.

“In the final, we did everything we could as we left on one of the best Top Fuel leavers. To leave on Antron (Brown) in the final is very big for me as a driver. We spit a couple of (spark) plugs out at the far end and, if they had any problem, we were right there for the win. It’s a way better weekend than I thought.” Stewart was quoted saying this via Autoweek.

While Tony Stewart will have the opportunity to repeat his good run and content for a win again next at the Brainerd International Raceway, Leah’s attention-worthy post is for all the fellow drivers who share the same celebrity status. So even for fans, stay alert and if you come across such accounts, do report them as spam.
