Tony Stewart’s wife, Leah Pruett, is at a crossroads in her life. On one side, it’s her journey through the blood, sweat, and tears of a decade-long drag racing career. On the other side, there is the prospect of nurturing the responsibility of starting a family. For the time being, the 11-time Top Fuel winner, Pruett, has chosen to devote her time and attention to her family. Thus hanging her boots from her NHRA drag racing career.

The 2024 Top Fuel Elimination Round at Bradenton Motorsport Park could very well be the last time we see Pruett push herself to the limits in a dragster. Calling the weekend’s event as ‘Super Bowl’, the 35-year-old couldn’t have asked for a better send-off race. Hailing the team’s recent project, she is now banking on her husband, Tony Stewart, to take over the reins. Emotions might run high for Pruett at this moment. But going by her retirement message, there is still some unfinished business left for her in the sport.

The 2023 Top Fuel World Championship is still fresh in Pruett’s mind. While she has a good collection of trophies, the defeat at the hands of Doug Kalitta still pricks like a thorn. Come 2024 and the Pro Superstar Shootout event, redemption was on the cards. It was so close yet so far for Pruett, as Kalitta once again came out on top in the semi-final rounds. Nevertheless, this was indeed a dream ride for Leah, one that she can be proud of.

Taking to her Instagram, she wrote, “It was a perfect race for me to hang my hat on, and feel good about my decision to step out of the seat for a while. I got to enjoy the intensity of racing that came with just trying to qualify for the race, as well as two tough elimination rounds. I wanted redemption bad against Doug in the semis, but it will just have to wait a couple of years I’m guessing – LP”.

Heaping praise for the recently concluded 5-day PRO Superstar Shootout event, she added, “Only time will tell the level of significance the now completed inaugural Scag Power Equipment PRO Superstar Shootout will have on the big picture of professional drag racing. But I do know that multiple successful markers were hit, and am honored to be a part of that history.”

Zooming past a speed of around 338 miles per hour in some odd four minutes and getting the results is indeed a tall order.
