It was just last month when the two-time Cup Series champion Kyle Busch talked about how the drivers have lost ‘any sense of respect in the garage’. Citing how the drivers do not shy away from taking advantage of each other, Busch tagged their behavior as ‘selfish’. However, after Sunday’s race at the Bristol Speedway, one NASCAR driver showcased his sense of respect for his fellow driver by publically admitting his mistake.
During the later part of the Food City Dirt Race, Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe made contact with Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney. Although Blaney’s car didn’t suffer much damage, the impact forced his #12 to slide down to the back row from the front.
Upset by the incident, Briscoe took full responsibility for ruining Blaney’s race and apologized for it on social media.

Here’s why Chase Briscoe decided to follow Kyle Busch’s lesson
Even though bumping into each other is a common NASCAR phenomenon, Tony Stewart‘s Stewart-Haas Racing driver handled the incident respectfully.
Admitting that he made a terrible mistake that affected Ryan Blaney’s day at Bristol, Chase Briscoe explained, “Yeah, I mean there was definitely contact. I was trying to shove him all the way down straight away just because it seems like that’s the only way that you can really get the bottom line going. Just got in there, I tried to run and I landed lower, when I saw he was kind of going to the middle, I hit that dirt turtle deal.”
Furthermore, Briscoe also acknowledged the effects his actions had on Blaney and his team.

He added, “I mean I obviously did to myself going down that low and just hit it. As soon as I hit it, it popped me up and kind of just drove me straight into his left rear and absolutely ruined his day.“
This was really bad on my part, actually extremely bad. I just went in and hit the dirt turtle and it bounced me right. https://t.co/c7QAmne2z6

Briscoe said, “So, you know, I am sure there’s gonna be payback on that side, I definitely deserve it. I ruined his day. He done a really good job all day. So, yeah just a stupid move by my part. It’s two years in a row. I may have found a dumb move and dumb decision late in the race and cost somebody else a good day so I just got to do better.”
