Who said that chivalry is dead in the modern world? Earlier this weekend, NASCAR action finally returned, with the first race at the LA Coliseum. One of the big moments took place during the practice session when Ty Gibbs’ car caught fire. Of course, this now meant that the Joe Gibbs Racing team had a massive headache on their hands. Fortunately for the team, Tony Stewart and the Stewart-Haas Racing team let JGR borrow a door foam piece for the #54 car.
As it turned out, there was a guardian angel watching over them, or multiple angels. It was largely suspected that the already divisive mufflers caused the fire, though there was little proof of that. Fortunately, Gibbs managed to evacuate immediately, and escape any injury. Of course, the team still had to get to the bottom of the issue and fix the car.

How did NASCAR fans react to Tony Stewart and his team’s kindness?
Safe to say, several fans were happy to see this camaraderie between rival teams. After all, it is nice to see that even though SHR and JGR are rivals; they are willing to drop everything to help in a time of need. Before long, the Joe Gibbs Racing team was able to get the car ship-shape for Ty Gibbs, well in time for the rest of the weekend.
Thanks tony

Unfortunately for the rookie driver, his race did not go as planned, as he ended up retiring. So by the time the race ended, he was classified in 26th place. It was probably fortunate that the Clash at the Coliseum was not a point-scoring race. Nevertheless, it was not exactly the dream debut for the 20-year-old driver.
Tony Stewart has always been that type of person to help someone else in need. He offered his plane to Kenny Irwin Jr’s family after his fatal crash, gave the New Hampshire trophy to his family too. Gave Justin Wilson’s family his private jet to get them to Pocono too.

Now, for the moment, Gibbs will rue what could have been and then shift his focus to the upcoming race. After all, next up on the calendar is none other than the famed Daytona 500. This is a race that nearly every driver in NASCAR desires to win and add to their bucket list.
