After Tony Stewart announced his upcoming racing venture a few days ago, the motorsports circuit was brimming with speculation stating that it could be a NASCAR rival project.
Now, according to recent reports, Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner has revealed that his venture isn’t a competitor to NASCAR but an additive.
NASCAR journalist Adam Stern reveals in a Tweet. He wrote, “@TonyStewart says that @SRXracing is not meant to compete with @NASCAR and is supposed to be an additive, new take on motorsport.”

Recently, the team gave out an official statement. The statement read, “SRX is a series where the cars will be so evenly matched that talent instead of equipment will win the race.”
Additionally, it read, “The competition will be intense, and thanks to the vision of such strong leaders in the sports and entertainment industry, millions will be able to watch live and in primetime on CBS.”

The team of esteemed motorsports personalities is creating a racing league similar to the old IROC. SRX will have 12 drivers racing in many historic short tracks across the country.

The series will have special cars designed by Ray Evernham. Ray is known for his time with Jeff Gordon and is a NASCAR Hall of Famer himself.
After that, Stewart talked to AP News. He said, “I always liked the IROC Series back in the day. I looked at that as the cream of the crop. When I got invited to run IROC, it was a huge honor.”
Additionally, he revealed his motive to start the new racing venture. He said, “When the series went away, I think it left a big hole. We have an opening now that gives an opportunity for guys like myself.

“And a lot of the guys who will be invited who can still drive race cars. Still have the ability, still want to race, to come back. Hopefully, they will feel the way I did, like it’s a cool opportunity to take seriously and be looked up to as the best out there.”
