‘Smoke’ is a well-known nickname for NASCAR’s diehard fans. Winning eclectic championships across the NASCAR Cup Series, IndyCar, and USAC is a quality that only one racing legend reeks of – Tony Stewart. The motorsports veteran smoked his engines to fetch several more laurels, including 49 Cup Series race wins and finishing the Double in 2001. Now, another ‘Smoke’ seems to be on the radar.

Stewart and his wife Leah Pruett embarked on a parenthood journey late in 2023. The latter temporarily suspended her racing duties, which were taken up by Stewart. Despite being one less active racer in the household for the 2024 season, the goal was intact – to foster a racer out of the newcomer. And Tony Stewart showed his dedication to that mission, in a hilarious way.

When Leah Pruett decided to start a family, it was not an easy decision. Being a seasoned NHRA Top Fuel dragster champ, she owns 18 victories. They include 12 in the TopFuel dragster ranks, three wins in the Pro Mod, and three in the Factory Stock Showdown. She started in Junior Dragsters at the age of 8 and has never backed down since. So to voluntarily suspend her racing duties was challenging. However, now that the mission has been accomplished, Pruett is on her way back to the racetrack. She is also on a mission, along with her husband Tony Stewart – to bring up their newborn son Dominic in the ways of racing.

Pruett gave birth to Dominic James Stewart on 17th November, right when the NHRA finals were underway at Pomona. Tony Stewart juggled a lot of duties that day – qualifying for the Finals, witnessing his son’s birth, and then competing in the semi-finals again. So the versatile racer only deemed it fitting to compose a special lullaby for Dominic.

As his wife, Leah, recorded the hearty moment, Stewart could be seen snuggling close to his baby. And he mimicked the noise of a revving engine in a soft way, as little Dominic slept peacefully. Leah named it the ‘Car Guy Lullaby.’ Stewart wrote on X: “Who can relate?”

After all, the family is like the beacon of American racing. Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett are both totally invested in racing – as was evident when the latter asked Stewart about his race performance even while facing labor pains.

Stewart has time and again saluted his wife’s indomitable grit. He said in 2023: “To be a competitive, professional race car driver and have to make the decision to take yourself out of the seat to start a family is not a position most males would want to be put in.” So being the son of such a powerful racing mother and a motorsports veteran father comes with privileges in the world of racing.

Tony Stewart’s journey in motorsports has been exemplary. Several memorable moments dot his career – like when he completed the total 1100 miles of the Double, finishing both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Then he narrowly edged out Carl Edwards in a solid fight for the 2011 Cup Series championship. Similarly, fans agree that Stewart’s lullaby moment with his son is something to cherish. One fan was tickled to hear the unique lullaby: “Complete with Rev matching.🤣” Stewart’s successor is officially on the radar, as another fan quickly gave Dominic his own nickname: “Lil Smoke 🥰”

Being star racers, it is only natural both Stewart and Pruett will introduce Dominic to motorsports in his first month on this earth. Keeping the family tradition strong by passing it down early is the way to go as a fan agreed. “It’s all about getting them started early get that muscle memory going…” Somebody else chimed in, referring to how the power couple are focused on their racetrack priorities. “This is freaking great!!! And on brand!!!!!!”

However, this is only the beginning. Dominic is barely a month old and has decades of experience waiting for him in racing. Both Tony Stewart and Leah Pruett will be around to teach him how to wheel a race car. Somebody dropped a hilarious comment in this regard in the comments, opining that Dominic should learn more. “You need to explain the basics of engines and especially RPM’s while using cruise control to him at Stewart Family Christmas. It may take more than an hour.”

Evidently, Tony Stewart’s adorable interaction with his son has charmed fans. As little Dominic or Lil Smoke grows up, we are only more curious to find out what career awaits him.
