Uncertainty over sponsors has been a grey cloud surrounding the offices of Stewart-Haas Racing for some time now. With drivers parting ways with the team, so did their sponsors. The upsetting 2023 season that the team had did not help their cause of retaining sponsors either. Fortunately, Mahindra Tractors has come to the rescue for now.

The tractor manufacturer has been sponsoring the car of Chase Briscoe since 2022 and they have decided to continue their support despite the bad season that Tony Stewart’s driver had. Fortunately for Stewart, this lifts some weight from his pile of problems.

The 2023 season was one to forget for all of Stewart-Haas Racing’s young drivers, let alone Chase Briscoe. None except the icon Kevin Harvick had made it into the Round of 16. Briscoe himself finished 30th in the standings at the end of the season without a single win as consolation. Despite the crest-fallen second outing that he had with Mahindra as his anchor partner in 2023, the company has signed a multi-year agreement to serve as his primary partner.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, representatives of the company said in a statement, “Chase is an amazing guy … so it made sense to keep working with the team. I know they had a tough year, but I’m confident they’ll hopefully look better next year.”

Though this doesn’t nullify all of Tony Stewart’s problems, it does make the weight of them all a little bit easier to carry around.

One of the prime reasons for Mahindra choosing to stay back with Briscoe could be what they saw in their maiden season with him in 2022. Beginning with the Clash at the LA Memorial Coliseum, the partnership won its first Cup Series race at just the fourth round in Phoenix. Eventually, they also made it as far as the Round of 8 in the season. Though 2023 has been the stark opposite of that year, there is plenty of reason to stand behind a driver of Briscoe’s caliber.

Talking about how Tony Stewart and Chase Briscoe were the perfect champions for Mahindra Tractors, the company’s CEO Viren Popli said, “As owners of Mahindra Tractors, Tony and Chase appreciate the benefits our tractors deliver to the market and speak the same language as our dealers and customers. They are the perfect brand ambassadors for our tractors.” Briscoe himself expressed his gratitude saying as per NBC Sports, “I’ve had the honor of representing Mahindra Tractors since they first came into NASCAR and I’m blessed to have this relationship continue”.

The departure of both Busch Light and Smithfield, the sponsors of Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola left a big dent in Tony Stewart’s side. With the extended stay of Mobil 1 and the renewal of the partnership with Mahindra, he will get to have a lighter night’s sleep. Hopefully, his drivers will put up better displays on the track next season and make things easier in the future.
