Tony Stewart said that paying out north of $2 million in prizes in the course of 4 days is a financial burden. However, with tickets being sold in 46 states and 5 countries, he asserted that the point of this race is to make history and nothing else. With 80+ drivers on the grid for the Eldora Million, everything is in place for the race to go underway.

During the conversation with FloRacing, they asked Tony. “Talk a little bit about what it feels like to put the Eldora Speedway back on the worldwide stage and what’s the expectation level with that?”

“Well. I think even long before I owned it when Earl Baltes owned Eldora Speedway, it was the world’s greatest dirt track then, and it still is,” said Tony. “And I am proud of it, I am proud of our staff. I am proud of everybody that’s a part of this with us.”

He added, “And it is, it’s a lot of pride to know that…like you mentioned 46 states that are gonna be represented at Eldora and 5 countries. That shows you the scope of how big this event is.”

With such a big amount of money on the line, Tony doesn’t want this race to be a conventional one. He has eliminated the possibility of a driver winning the race directly from the Pole without a fight.

As per Autoweek, here’s what Tony had to say about the race format for the Eldora Million.“It shouldn’t be qualify, quick time and start on the pole, and the next thing you know you start on the pole for the main event and you don’t have to race anybody.”

He further explained, “We laid out a format with our staff that we felt like was going to give the fans the best opportunity to see the best racing. Whatever driver that’s on that stage winning a million dollars at the end of the night will have earned it for sure. It’s not a free ride. You’re going to have to pass cars no matter what during the prelim and the main event … to get there.”
