It is no secret that celebrities are prone to special treatments time and again. With more fame comes more privileges. It has certainly been the case for former Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Tony Stewart. The 51-year-old has enjoyed a lot of success on the track which has helped him get exempted here and there for minor offenses.

It is no secret how adventurous and passionate Tony Stewart is about the sport. It is also known that the Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner has gotten in trouble for the same. Recently, he talked about one such incident form the past. However, this time he got into trouble because of no direct fault of his.
Tony Stewart gets into trouble because of Jeff Gordon
The three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion was recently involved in a candid conversation at the Dan Le Batard Show. Stewart answered on some of the interesting questions asked by the fans. When asked for the number of times he was exempted from a speeding ticket, he replied, “Well, over a dozen.”
While most times it has worked out for Stewart, there was one instance when it didn’t. Speaking on it, he explained, “There was a guy [cop] that liked a different driver that that driver and I didn’t get along with. This is a little more complicated alright. He was a Jeff Gordon fan.”
On being insisted to speaking more about the incident, the 1997 IndyCar Series champion continued and said, “So Jeff and I are literally two months apart in age and came up the same way in racing. We have got a ton of respect for each other and we are buddies now but when we raced, we were rivals.”

“So they like either liked Jeff or they liked us and this guy just happened to be a Jeff Gordon fan.” Eventually, Stewart escaped the ticket, but it cost him something. He said, “The amount of time I made up before I got pulled over, I lost all that times five on the stop.”

It is true that Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon had a rivalry during the time they were still actively racing. It so happened once that Gordon got extremely furious. He threatened to slam Stewart in the wall.

It happened in 2000 when Gordon was hunting his seventh consecutive Cup Series win. But as per him, Stewart’s aggression caused the former Hendrick Motorsports driver’s car to brush the wall. It was a rivalry then thoroughly enjoyed by the neutrals.
