Tony Stewart might have to overcome his biggest fears after his wife, Leah Pruett, decided that she wanted to start a family. Stewart, in an interview, expressed his reservations about being present with Leah and taking part in the fatherly custom of cutting the umbilical cord. However, it seems like Pruett has an ace up her sleeve that might be enough for Stewart to rethink his decision.
Here’s why Tony Stewart is rethinking his stance of being present with Leah during childbirth
The 3-time Cup Series champion surprisingly confessed that in an earlier event that when Leah is expecting the baby, he would prefer to be in the lobby watching sports. He claimed that he would pass out in the intimidating environment and would create a stir by tripping the doctors. However, a year later, Leah has made progress in getting her husband to rethink his choice to welcome their newborn baby.

Explaining his change of thought, Stewart, in an interview on SpeedFreaks stated, “I mean, she’s getting me closer to at least being in there… My view hasn’t changed a bit. Her view, on the other hand has not changed either, and it’s amazing how hormone, the cards she throws on the table. Like I didn’t know there were that many cards in a deck. I don’t get to win very many battles right now.”
Leah suffers from Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which prevents her thyroid from producing enough hormones. This chronic disorder has proved to be a challenge in her racing career. She has previously expressed concerns about how this condition could play a part in her attempt to get pregnant. “That plays a part into my health, which means I need more time to start a family,” she shared last year via Associated Press.

Replacing her wife inside the Top Fuel dragster, the 52-year-old is still trying to find his feet in the rookie season. Initially, in the first two events in Gainsville and Pomona, he wasn’t able to clear the first rounds. But that changed with his first points-round win at the Arizona Nationals, which gave the TSR camp something to cheer about.

Sharing his experience of competing in Top Fuel racing this season, he said, “I mean, the first and foremost thing is that I’m doing everything the right way. When it comes to driving and it doesn’t mean the part from when you hit the gas till you throw the chutes… I know after Pomona, the crew chiefs were a little dejected about where we’re at performance-wise. But they put their hand on my shoulder, and they’re like, you are doing a great job.”
Given that Stewart has almost found success competing in different racing events and series apart from NASCAR, it is only about time that he gets his first rookie win running in the Top Fuel racing events in 2024.
