Everyone who thought that SHR was going to go out without a bang was wrong. Chase Briscoe is now the surviving driver in the playoffs and is trying to give Stewart Haas Racing the goodbye they deserve. For Briscoe, this is an opportunity for him to not only win the championship but also prove to his future team, Joe Gibbs Racing, the kind of talent he will bring to the team.
With Tony Stewart deciding to part ways with NASCAR, this will be the last time any driver will be in the playoffs under the team name. Next year onwards, Haas Factory Racing will be the new name that the remaining partner Gene Haas will operate with. And instead of four charters in the Cup Series, they will only be running one. Briscoe surprised everyone when he managed to defeat Kyle Busch with the last shot he had to make it into the playoffs in Darlington. Now he is here to prove that he deserves to be in the top 12 as much as anyone else racing against him.

Chase Briscoe came in 8th at Bristol and that was enough to keep him safe and progress into the top 12. Now, however, the No. 14 Dark Horse driver is at P12 in the playoff standings, and he will need to win some races to make it further. With 3 more races left for the field to narrow down even more, Briscoe seems confident in his skills as Kansas becomes the next challenge to overcome.
Right after the Bristol Night Race concluded, Chase Briscoe was approached by an NBC Sports reporter, where he shared his thoughts on making it into the top 12. Briscoe spoke about the position he is in right now, saying, “I honestly felt it wasn’t really stressful. I knew our rush truck centers for Dark Horse were really, really good. Even when we had that bad pit stop and came out 13th or 14th, I felt like I could drive back up there.”
He explained how he lost a few spots during the pit while trying to be extra cautious. But then he said, “Overall, it was a great night for us.” Briscoe has heard fans say that SHR will not be able to accomplish much within the playoffs. He responded, “Hopefully, people will start taking this seriously. I truly feel like we can battle for the championship, and hopefully tonight proved that.”
It was not an easy ride for Briscoe, as things looked like they were going south during the first race of the playoffs. But he and the team picked themselves up and are looking to “start this next round strong.” Confident in his ability and the team’s hard work, Briscoe claimed, “I feel like we can beat anybody on any given day when we put it together from start to finish. Obviously, tonight we didn’t have some make-up, but we were still able to achieve a good finish, and that’s what this championship run is all about.”

Briscoe is planning on making the most of his situation and that will happen when he manages to win the title for the team. So far, it has only been the team co-owner Tony Stewart and former NASCAR champion Kevin Harvick who have brought home the title for the team, and Briscoe wants to add to the list. It’s one last stretch for Briscoe, then it is to Joe Gibbs Racing for him and the driver has already started to make himself familiar with his next team.

As of now, Chase Briscoe has been dedicated to SHR as he wants to see how the playoffs go with his current team. Two weeks ago, Briscoe spoke about the situation he is in, and he said, “It’s been a wild ride. Unfortunately, obviously, with SHR shutting down, it put me in a weird spot, not knowing what was going to happen. But to get the opportunity to go to JGR and drive probably one of the best cars in the entire sport is something I’m super excited for.”
Briscoe also revealed that as of now, he has not socialized with his future team as much because he still has a job to do at SHR. However, he does always greet the members and the crew chief when he sees them at the tracks. Chase Briscoe is on a good trajectory in his career, especially considering the legacy that Joe Gibbs Racing holds in NASCAR. Considering that, as soon as he moves to the new team, the crew will be ready to have him.

Making it into the playoffs and surviving to the round of 12 shows that he did not just make it with a fluke win at Darlington. His consistency is what brought him here, and this gives JGR some faith in the decision they made by giving Briscoe Martin Truex Jr.’s seat.
