Tony Stewart is already going through a tough time. As people nervously await Stewart-Haas Racing‘s dooming end after this season, they expected Iowa Corn 350 to turn out great for them. But alas, fate had a different story to tell. During the Iowa race, SHR had a solid showing with Josh Berry consistently running in second or third place alongside Kyle Larson and William Byron, ultimately finishing seventh. Another standout from Stewart’s team was Noah Gragson, who secured a respectable P16 finish. But where did things go wrong?

Well, Gragson could have had a better result if not for an incident involving Jimmie Johnson’s No. 42 driver, John Hunter Nemechek. So when Stewart’s team communicated their unhappiness with Nemechek, fans stood in their support.

How did Tony Stewart’s team lose its cool with John Hunter Nemechek’s antics at Iowa Speedway?

During Stage 2 of the Iowa Corn 350, John Hunter Nemechek made contact with Gragson, getting into Turn 3. Unfortunately, this sent the No. 10 Ford Mustang sliding, eventually bringing out a caution. While Gragson did amazingly well to keep his car straight and avoid any hits of any sort, he did lose his momentum. Despite the decent run, the wreck with No. 42 did affect his run, and he lost out on a few positions.

While JHN struggles to make it count on the track, his act at Iowa certainly left Gragson’s camp furious. Crew chief Drew Blickensderfer opined on the radio, “What in the f*** is wrong with him?” He further added, “That guy is the biggest moron in racing over the past 10 years.”

Remember when Nemechek replaced Gragson on Jimmie Johnson’s team? This was following the latter’s suspension last August. However, it looks like the 27-year-old has yet to impress the team and crowd this season. With just two top-ten finishes, Nemechek lies 28th in the standings after 17 races.

Without a doubt, Gragson’s team on the pit road looked more than unhappy with Nemechek’s act. Even his spotter, Andy Houston, ensured that their discontent was relayed to the #42 spotter, Ryan Blanchard.

The debut Cup Series at Iowa Speedway surely provided some exciting moments. And this includes the Gargson-Nemechek incident. It turns out, NASCAR fans too weren’t happy with Nemechek’s actions. What did fans say?

It is no secret that Nemechek has a knack for getting involved in wrecks. Be it the Xfinity Series or the Cup Series, the 27-year-old has built a reputation for destruction. With his act involving Noah Gragson on Sunday, the driver certainly added more eyeballs to his decision-making and performance.

Reacting to Noah Gragson’s crew’s rant, one of the fans acknowledged the feeling of recalling the past wrecks. He said, “I agree. He’s always running over somebody.” Another fan, without any hesitation, marked Nemechek as someone who would do that in every race. “JHN punts someone on a near-weekly basis.”

While John Hunter Nemeckeck’s reputation for being involved in wrecks went against him, his last name brought more criticism for him. He is the son of Joe Nemechek, who has made the second most national series starts in NASCAR history. Knowing the same, a fan slammed with a nepotism comment. “I believe the term is “nepo baby” and Nascar is full of them.”

Gragson finished 16th while Nemechek came out in 26th position. Further, another fan criticized Nemechek on his career and growth, knowing his background. “I don’t know how he’s made it this far, what has he accomplished?? You can only make it so far on your last name.” Nemechek, being the son of Joe Nemechek, went against him in this case. However, it only got worse as one fan made a brutal admission, “He needs to head back to Xfinity.”

It’s understandable why fans are enraged, given the frequency of wrecks the driver is involved in. His controversial move at Iowa Speedway has definitely sparked widespread criticism from Noah Gragson’s team and NASCAR fans alike.

As the season progresses, if Nemechek doesn’t improve, he is likely to face mounting scrutiny over his performance and reputation in NASCAR. Hopefully, the Legacy Motor Club driver will learn from this incident and avoid similar situations in the future. What do you think?
