Recently, 3x Cup Series champion Tony Stewart appeared on The Dale Jr. Download podcast. Safe to say, the two legends of the sport had much to talk about. They discussed Tony’s life as a drag racer and the other projects he has planned to undertake in the future. Closer to the end of the conversation, Dale Earnhardt Jr admitted that he hoped to see Stewart continue racing for a while.
Thankfully for his fans, Stewart gave an enthusiastic response to Dale Jr’s wish.

Tony Stewart makes some promises as he teases that he might need help
Taking Junior’s statement forward, the SHR co-owner said, “That’s the plan. Like I said, you never know what it’s going to be. You can guarantee I’m going to be driving something for a long time.”
Co-host Mike Davis laughingly suggested that Tody try his hand at driving Funny Cars. Stewart, whose NHRA team Tony Stewart Racing fields 3x World Drag Racing Funny Car champion Matt Hagan, replied, “God I hope not. […] It’s going to be bad.
The hosts engaged in a bit of banter with Smoke, playing on the title, “Funny car driver.”
Tony later added, “I appreciate it. It’s great hanging out with you, I miss our conversations. We’ve had a lot of fun together. We’ve had some great heart-to-heart talks together about life and stuff. About how this transition in our lives should go, or how we think it should go.
“Don’t worry, there’s going to be some phone calls. I feel like, coming up in the next six to 12 months, gonna need some help. I’m getting some heat.”

However, when Stewart mentioned getting some heat, it would make one think that he is in some trouble. Nevertheless, Dale Jr decided to play the Good Samaritan and assured him that Smoke could count on him. It is pleasurable to see the former drivers and racing legends having a healthy respect for each other, on the track and away from it.
