The Closer’s career has finally reached the finish line. After a 23-year successful sprint, it’s time for Stewart Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick to bid adieu to full-time racing. As the most experienced active full-time driver, it will definitely be difficult to see the 47-year-old legend part ways with the sport. The 2023 Cup Series season will mark the final lap in the 2014 Cup Series champion’s racing career.

But this doesn’t mean that Happy Harvick will be forgotten. In fact, it is quite the contrary. As Kenny Wallace aptly said on his YouTube show, Harvick has left behind some wonderful memories for all NASCAR fans to cherish.

While discussing how Harvick has actually done it all, Wallace said that he feels the #4 driver needs to be inducted into the Hall of Fame immediately. Moreover, he also talked about the constant debate about the importance of winning a championship versus winning individual races. Amidst it all, Wallace went on to share a few memorable events.

While reminiscing about a particular race at the Bristol Motor Speedway, he said, “How about Harvick jumping over the car to beat Greg Biffle’s a*s at Bristol? Kevin Harvick has given us so many memories. I gotta say. You know, we look at Kevin Harvick’s career and we go (surprised)…”

Back in 2002, Greg Biffle made contact with Kevin Harvick on lap 241 of 250 at the Bristol race. And as expected, this didn’t sit well with Harvick. In a post-race interview, Harvick commented, “Basically, he (Greg Biffle) got impatient and we were the second car he had spun out. It wasn’t just us that had been taken out today. You know, if he had got up under me, I would have just moved out of the way and he would have went by.”

However, unlike other drivers, Harvick did not retire back to the stands. Instead, he waited at the pit box until Biffle finished his race in the fifth position. When Biffle was being interviewed by the media, the Closer went over to Biffle’s #60 Grainger Ford and grabbed him around the throat. After a heated, cuss-heavy exchange, NASCAR officials had to pull the two apart.

As a repercussion for his actions, Harvick—then with Richard Childress Racing—was fined $15,000 and was placed on probation. But even though what Harvick did was pretty intense, many saw it as a “badass” move. And maybe that’s why Kenny Wallace, in his humorous self, made sure to include this event in the list of his most memorable Kevin Harvick incidents.
