Ahead of the beginning of the new season, NASCAR has proposed to try out a new system for race event sponsorships. However, the fan base at large seems to be divided on the proposal, especially after the general consensus towards the event has drawn significant criticism from the old-school fans of the sport.

NASCAR journalist Adam Stern stated, “@NASCAR is pursuing a founding partner model instead of a title sponsor model for @NASCARChicago, so there will be no brand attached to the race name. NASCAR wants four founding partners at roughly $2 million annually each including NBC ad time.”
The Chicago race will take place early into the season, with the current schedule suggesting that the race would take place on the 1st and 2nd of July 2023. The first of its kind in NASCAR, street race has since drawn a lot of criticism regarding the untested format. Many argue that such a type of racing would be boring and uneventful at best. Earlier this year, when fans got a teaser during the iRacing event, fans thought of the track to have a restrictive and boring layout, drivers also noted that there was barely any run-off area for drivers to head in in case they made an error in the track.
Fans lash out at NASCAR for their approach
Fans were not exactly excited about this new format to attract sponsorship revenue from the race event. A lot of people remained skeptical about businesses willing to invest in such an untested race in the domain of NASCAR.
Fans stated,
Those flat tv ratings y.o.y. must scream value 🤣

They're going to be so disappointed when no one will fork over the money for any of those slots.
