No ardent NASCAR fan needs an introduction to Tony Stewart! The man, the myth, and the legend has not only stepped foot in multiple racing leagues but has conquered them as well. Before he made his way into NASCAR and won 4 Cup Series championships, 3 as a driver and 1 as an owner, he was dominating the Indycar scene.
Now, Tony ‘Smoke’ Stewart, after collecting all the rightful accolades, is currently causing all the smoke in the NHRA drag strips!
Coming to the recent news that has catapulted the driver’s name back to the headlines, he clinched the Four-Wide Nationals at the popular NHRA event hosted in NASCAR’s very own ‘bad boy’ Kyle Busch‘s home track, Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Tony Stewart explains what this victory means to him despite the setbacks!
“Last year he lost by 2 ten thousandths of a second, this year he won by 3 ten thousandths of a second,” screamed the commentators in joy as they witnessed the thrilling tale of a veteran driver clinching the national title after a massive setback!
While even the commentary team couldn’t hide their excitement, Stewart certainly couldn’t hold back his emotions. After he sped down the drag strip, the community saw a teary-eyed Tony Stewart as he spoke to the pit reporter, explaining the emotional drive.
With the prestigious Wally trophy in his hands, Tony was asked, “you told us that you’ve thought about that loss here in the fall everyday, you’re now holding your own Wally, is it good as you thought it would be?”
Mentioning the sheer grit and determination of his team, Stewart answered, “Every bit is much as I thought it would be, this is uh this is so cool, to do all the things we’ve done in motorsport and uh win a national event is pretty awesome, so uh we were so close last fall and the start of this year has been so miserable for this team but Rich and Richie and Eric and Bill and the guys on Mike’s car and everybody you know, Chris and uh Tex that worked on Jasmine’s car, everybody pitches in and takes care of each other.”

Owing to the major disappointment last year, with the team losing the title and winning it back this year, the reporter further asked, “What are your intentions with us [the sport of Drag Racing]?”
Tony said, “I wanna do exactly what we’re doing right this second. I want to hold more of these trophies, so I enjoyed, love our teams with you know Dodge power brokers, funny car and top fuel car but I love having the opportunity to race well, these guys, this is a cool class with some really cool drivers and teams and crew guys.”
Voicing his excitement, The Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner said, “pretty happy where I’m right now, this is a fun group to race with.” While for ardent NASCAR fans, ‘smoke’ clinching his win at Kyle Busch’s home turf really means something.
