The current season has been a roller coaster for the Hendrick Motorsports team. It started with Chase Elliott missing six races due to his injury and the remaining drivers struggling to find their stride. Amidst this challenging period, William Byron is emerging as the beacon of hope for the HMS team for the season.
However, Byron’s victory at Atlanta was considered somewhat fortuitous, as according to many, his car didn’t appear to be the strongest on the track. He even found himself involved in a spin when Corey LaJoie bumped into the rear of Byron’s car, causing him to spin and hit the wall. Although the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro driver was able to continue racing, the spin still caused him to lose several laps.
Whereas, some NASCAR enthusiasts believe he has the potential to win the championship too.

Following William Byron’s victory at Atlanta, Jeff Gordon was questioned about the guidance he provided to the #24 driver based on his own driving experiences. Gordon disclosed that he simply advised Byron to continue doing what he was already doing, which ultimately resulted in significant success for Byron as well. In addition to this, Jeff also shared some valuable advice with his other drivers.
He said, “I do want our drivers to reach just slightly outside their comfort zone when it comes to the media and opportunities, just so they can open up more doors for their own brand, and it helps us sell sponsors, and I think it helps grow the sport.”
