Kurt Busch went through a difficult ordeal in 2022, and there are no doubts about it. He suffered a crash in qualifying at Pocono, which had initially ruled him out for the race and a few more.

No one expected anything worse than that since it was a regulation crash. On examination, it turned out that the accident had affected him much worse. Both Busch and 23XI Racing didn’t expect the news coming their way – Busch was recommended to leave racing, and retire.

23XI Racing now had to find a partner for Bubba Wallace for their second car. They had Tyler Reddick earmarked for the 2024 season, and all contracts were signed. But what about 2023?

Luckily for them, Richard Childress Racing was open to negotiations. Bubba would get a new partner in 2023 in Reddick after both teams agreed to a sale of the 2023 part of his contract.

It was confirmed by the team that the 2022 season will be finished with stop-gap arrangements, and Reddick will join after the end of the 2022 season. At RCR, Kyle Busch replaced Tyler.
