In a bold move that’s stirring excitement and concern, Kyle Larson is set to take on the daunting challenge of attempting the 1,100-mile double by racing in the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. This high-stakes endeavor has only been attempted once since 2014 when Kurt Busch took the daredevil plunge.

With a racing pedigree that spans various disciplines, Larson’s determination to conquer the dual challenge is palpable. He’s slated to drive the #17 Arrow McLaren-Hendrick Chevrolet, a joint effort between HMS and McLaren. However, not everyone is convinced this feat is a wise decision.

During the recent ‘Door Bumper Clear podcast, ’ TJ Majors, Freddie Kraft, and Brett Griffin debated this latest venture. “I mean, the more you guys talk about it, I’m spot off this guy is crazy. He’s crazy. Well, I mean, I guess we’ll talk about the AMA in a little bit. I mean, he says he thinks he’s in more danger in Talladega than he does when he’s in a Sprint car. But, man, it’s Kyle Larson.Bubba Wallace’s spotter stated. “Dude. I mean, did you watch the Nationals this weekend?” TJ asked. “You see, I mean, leading up to it, man, there were some this … There were some wild wrecks in the Sprint cars,” Griffin added.

“One wreck, the one, I forget the guy’s name now, he was the five cars. Was like his wing like I’ll send it over in turn three, and then he just, I mean, plowed the fence, yeah.” TJ further said. Brett added onto it, saying, “And then in the event in the feature, I mean they’re sitting there showing Larson at one point I saw him bounce right rear out the fence in the straightaway, and I’m these guys. They are popping tires on the entry, and I’m like, good Lord. So that doesn’t surprise me. He’s doing the IndyCar race.”

Larson’s prowess on the track is undeniable. Boasting 21 Cup wins, 10 of which he secured during his triumphant 2021 championship campaign, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

Beyond the NASCAR circuit, Larson has left his mark in dirt racing, amassing an impressive collection of prestigious sprint car victories. Just recently, he clinched his second win at the esteemed Knoxville Nationals, solidifying his reputation as a formidable contender.

The allure of the Indy 500 has clearly captured Larson’s imagination. Attending this year’s event to prepare for his impending debut, he shared his sentiments with NBC in May: “It probably still won’t seem real until I get behind the wheel of a car. Just happy to be here, it’s the only day I can get here this year, so I’m just trying to soak in as much knowledge as I can and continually better prepare myself for next season.” Larson’s aspiration to fulfill a dream shared with his father, Jeff Gordon, and Rick Hendrick drives him to embrace the challenge wholeheartedly.
