One might think, winning the Truck Series might be enough for a driver to kick their feet back and relax in the off-season. Ty Majeski is here to prove those fans wrong. Majeski lit up what could have been a boring season away from NASCAR with the lawsuit at hand. Much like the Kyles (Larson and Busch), Majeski took part in a different racing league, one that gave him a hefty bonus.

Apart from the $30,000 prize from winning the race, Ty Majeski swooped up $5000 in bonuses for his performance.

Ty Majeski opened up on how his race unfolded

After the NASCAR season concluded, very few drivers stayed idle in the off-season. This not only encompasses the Cup Series drivers but the Xfinity and Truck Series drivers as well. So it explains why Ty Majeski was competing in the Bill Bigley Memorial 128 this weekend. The newly-crowned Truck Series champion enjoyed a great day in the office on that day and was practically unstoppable.

He told Short Track Scene, “We talk a lot about how to unload and we didn’t unload close last year. We kind of came back with the same baseline starting point. We just kind of fine-tuned some things we’ve found throughout the year and implemented them as practice went on. Gosh! you know, the car was just great all weekend and all day yesterday. We didn’t really practice much today, made two or three runs, just to get a gauge of the track and stuff. So we just had to execute. It’s really hard to pass here. So drawing that three really helped and made for an easy night.”

Naturally, he won the race and took home a purse of $35,000 for his efforts. The venue of his triumph was the Charlotte County Speedway, and this was important for him. Back in 2022, he won the race but got it stripped away after failing post-race inspection. A year later, he led a bunch of laps, but failed to win. Fortunately, Majeski has officially become third-time lucky. On his way to victory, he fended off attacks from several drivers.

Chief among them was Casey Johnson, who was his biggest threat. According to Johnson, his car was initially feeling tight and cost him the early lead to Majeski. What made it worse was that his car did not perform well in the long run. As a result, he confessed that there wasn’t much that he could do differently.

Majeski scored pole position for the race with a time of 14.477, a feat that earned him $4000 as a bonus. From there, it took him 13 laps to solidify his lead and keep it until the end, another feat that earned him an extra $1000 for winning from pole position. All that was despite multiple restarts owing to several on-track wrecks. Fortunately, he kept his nose clean for the entire race and romped to victory.

However, it wasn’t easy because Johnson was often there to keep him on his toes. Completing the podium was John de Angelis, and the funny thing is that all three of them are from the same state. In other words, the trio of podium finishers all hail from Wisconsin, so de Angelis was extra motivated to keep his podium spot.

The Truck Series driver has been riding on a high

This win is the icing on the cake for Ty Majeski, capping off an excellent season. As mentioned before, he is the reigning NASCAR Truck Series champion for the 2024 season. Driving for ThorSport Racing, he bagged three wins during the season. He didn’t reach Victory Lane at all until the Playoffs were already well underway.

Instead, he kept up a consistent run to enter the Playoffs by points. That was when he exploded into action, winning at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Richmond. Incidentally, both races were back-to-back, so he pretty much solidified his intentions. From there, he did not finish lower than 15th for the remainder of the season until the season finale at Phoenix. Speaking of which, Ty Majeski eventually roared to victory at the Phoenix Raceway, winning the race and the championship.

Speaking after the race, Majeski explained, “This is so much fun racing with this group,” Majeski said. “So proud to have the opportunity to drive these great race trucks. There’s a lot of times in my career where this looks like a far dream, and [team owners] Duke and Rhonda [Thorson] really gave me my third opportunity after I had two opportunities that failed. I can’t thank them enough.”
