On his podcast with Dale Jr., Mike Davis asked the two-time Daytona 500 winner about the mic issue he was facing at the very beginning of the race. He discussed the difficulties he faced while covering the event in the murkiness. Dale talked about the audio box that got wet due to rain and mentioned that the team had to go a mile to replace it with a new box, realizing that the race had started without him.

This job is the hardest according to Dale Earnhardt Jr. In his discussion with Mike, he said, “The people that are trying to fix this stuff, are, you know, they work for NBC and the production team and they have the hardest job as it is, much less when stuff breaks, they got to run around, scramble and try to fix.”

The Hall of Famer then discussed some issues that existed before practice, he mentioned:

Burton had issues when we first got the purchase for the practice, you know Stuff was quite working right, but the cameras. weren’t working, things just don’t work. you know, you set it up and hope for the best but that was all new, ah I mean running the cables and wires to get all this stuff out there, miles and miles of cables, and sometimes just stuff doesn’t work like it was supposed to”.

In his witty chit-chat, he discussed how terrible he felt standing there in the rain, and questioned himself why is this race happening in the first place.
