NASCAR’s unpredictable silly season seems to be turning its gears with the recent disappointing run of Tony Stewart’s team and speculations surrounding Ford’s new partnership. In a surprise twist, Ford might be considering a move away from Stewart-Haas Racing following the team’s underwhelming regular season and Kevin Harvick’s impending retirement. Moreover, it seems Ford is looking to replace SHR with this other Cup team.

The most significant talking point around this shake-up revolves around Denny Hamlin. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver for 16 seasons has steered Toyotas to victory on countless occasions. However, Hamlin’s next moves remain a puzzle, with his contract with JGR drawing close after 2023 and his co-ownership of 23XI Racing. And NASCAR insiders are here to give us fans all the tea.

It’s been a tumultuous time for SHR, co-owned by Tony Stewart. Even with Kevin Harvick under their banner, they’ve struggled to keep up with the competition. Harvick’s lone playoff point this season paints a concerning picture of the team’s declining performance.

During the GoPRNLive podcast, Lee Spencer shared her shock at SHR’s performance, stating, “Given the performance from Stewart-Haas Racing, you have to wonder, are they the best solution for the Blue Oval moving forward? I mean, you know, granted Brad Keselowski and Kevin Harvick locked in yesterday, and certainly, we see nothing but blue sky ahead for RFK after, you know, a decade of struggles.”

“But you know Kevin Harvick, even though he’s in the playoffs, he has one playoff point. This is not the way we all wanted to see Kevin Harvick go out of this sport because we know his contributions to the sport, Motorsports in general. If Kevin Harvick can’t be competitive at Stewart Haas Racing, you have to be there and scratching your head.”

To this Kyle Petty added, “I think the speed at which they’ve fallen from grace is the mind-blowing part.”

While SHR’s performance has been far from ideal, 23XI Racing’s growth and potential have caught the attention of many, including Ford. There are rumors of a potential meeting between Hamlin, his lawyer, Rod Moskowitz, and Ford personnel, which means that the Blue Oval might be interested in inducting 23XI into their ranks.

With Stewart-Haas Racing’s diminished standing and Kevin Harvick’s impending retirement, alongside the expected departure of #10 Aric Almirola, Ford might be hunting for a new mainstay. And 23XI Racing is looking increasingly attractive.

Spencer further added, “A perfect example from yesterday was Chase Briscoe running in the top 15, having a great day, left rear tire gets stuck, can’t get it off, goes from 14 and the highest Stewart House Racing driver down to 36. But you know, looking at Stewart Haas racing and the strength of that program over the years to what they’ve become, it’s just it’s mind-blowing, yeah, but it is mind-blowing.”
