Now in its third season, Tony Stewart’s SRX Series has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. Forced to pull its race from Vermont owing to the incessant floods, the laid-back racing series then became the epicenter of drama and controversy during its run at Pulaski County. With the series completing four of its six races at the Berlin Raceway, Tony Stewart has now sent out a warning to his drivers.

“A ton of work”: Tony Stewart details the challenge that awaits drivers

When drawing up the idea to form the Superstar Racing Experience, Tony Stewart believed that the series would be a laid-back fun experience, devoid of drama. Stepping into the 2023 season, Smoke was taken aback by the brash aggression of drivers in the SRX Series. Rife with spin-outs, paint trading, and even pile-ups, the short-track racing series even saw the suspension of the 2003 CART champion Paul Tracy.

Having completed the Berlin Raceway event without much fuss, Tony Stewart had a few words to spare for his drivers.

Speaking to Fronstretch, Tony Stewart said, “I’m really proud of everybody. This is a very technical track. Man, they did an amazing job. I mean, the amount of people that were here just to watch practice was phenomenal, exceeded our expectations. But to see how amped up everybody was, I mean the atmosphere here was amazing, so definitely the right choice to come here for sure and one that we’ll look at trying to come back to again in the future.”

Warning the drivers participating in his SRX venture, the three-time Cup Series champion added, “Good thing is, guys don’t have a bunch of carnage to fix, they can kind of like, they won’t have an easy week because there’s still a ton of work to do, to still fix cars from two weeks ago, but at least they’re not gonna feel like they got a cinder block tied to their ankles in the middle of the ocean.”
