In the world of NASCAR Cup racing, the 2023 season has unfolded with more twists and turns than a high-speed chase. In a recent segment of the ‘Motorsports on NBC’ podcast, Rick Allen, Jeff Burton, and Dale Jarrett discussed the ongoing struggles of Tony Stewart’s Cup Series team.

“Kevin Harvick, look, they just don’t have the speed consistently they need. Kevin talked about it before the race. He had to grind out to finish. He knew that’s what he was in for. They did a good job of doing that. But only seven points to the good right now. That is not the comfort zone you want going to Bristol.” Jeff Burton stated.

The Darlington race had fans at the edge of their seats just two weeks back. Kevin Harvick, representing Stewart-Haas Racing and the Ford banner, had the checkered flag almost within grasp. However, an ill-timed pit entry sent him to a 19th-place finish. But what went wrong?

Darlington, a racetrack full of history, and Kevin Harvick, just 56 laps away from glory in second place. The #4 team decided to pit a strategic move. But in the blink of an eye, chaos erupted. It was a pit stop timed as poorly as a comedian’s joke at a funeral. Just as Harvick approached pit road, the caution lights blared, catching him in a precarious situation.

Confusion danced with miscommunication, and Harvick was sentenced to the back of the grid before he knew it. In a cruel twist of fate, all his hard-earned progress vanished, leaving him with a 19th-place finish.

“I haven’t even watched it … ’cause it was done. I mean, I was. 3, 2, 1, lights on. From that point, you know, I just go down pit road and do what you are told, and you go from there. It is what it is, so I never even looked at it.” the ace of Tony Stewart stated during the pre-race conference in Kansas.

While Harvick is disappointed, Tony Stewart’s team is in hot water. Complains have been rolling in all season, but the pressure is peaking. Stewart-Haas Racing’s future looks uncertain with Harvick, the team’s shining star, stumbling during his final lap around the sun.
