A couple of weeks ago, the NASCAR Cup Series returned to action. However, at the LA Coliseum, Denny Hamlin was left rather horrified when he saw the Fox Sports broadcast of the race. The media giants ran a segment where caricatures of the drivers were displayed, and Hamlin hated his own.
Hamlin‘s biggest complaint was that he was given a goatee, which he has never had in his entire life. Fortunately, last weekend’s Daytona 500 broadcast appeared to have corrected that little oversight.
Safe to say, the 23XI Racing co-owner was very satisfied with the corrections. Hamlin practically crowed in his Actions Detrimental podcast, “I think we made change on this podcast. Come on, someone at Fox, you got to admit it. They got rid of my goatee, they went back to the less-pronounced, softer look. I need to see, did they adjust everyone’s, did they tone everyone’s face down slightly?”

Sadly, Denny Hamlin could not snatch a fourth career Daytona 500 win, as he finished all the way down in 17th. The race itself was a little topsy-turvy and culminated with an unexpected win for Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Not that the #47 driver was going to complain about it, as he survived a few wrecks and took the win after the final overtime.

Hamlin was in contention for a while, until he lost out due to poor strategy calls. Apparently, the plan was for him and teammate Martin Truex Jr to simultaneously pit and come out in tandem.

Unfortunately, Truex Jr took far less fuel than Hamlin expected, leaving the #11 driver at the mercy of his rivals. Hamlin was not happy with the fact that it was proving difficult to overtake with the Next Gen car on superspeedways.
