With the recent unraveling of events, all hell seems to have gone loose as NASCAR slammed its drivers and prominent teams like Hendrick Motorsports and Kaulig Racing with massive penalties. The governing body is even under fire for its over-the-top penalties and rules. But the controversies and debates don’t end there. The past race at Atlanta just saw another stint of protest in a rather passive race.

As NASCAR is dropping its hammer on drivers and teams, Denny Hamlin and Josh Williams are at the receiving end. And with fans creating a ruckus online, the league is now on its back foot.

In the latest episode of the Dirty Mo Media podcast, Dale Earnhardt Jr briefly talks about the recent events and how NASCAR is strategically playing its penalty game.

Dale Earnhardt Jr reveals what NASCAR is actually doing with all these penalties

Speaking to his friend and co-host Mike Davis on the podcast, Dale expressed that he likes the idea of the governing body coming down harsh on its teams and drivers only when it is “justified.” Dale said, “I like em to do things that are going to deter this across the board and, and frighten the entire garage right, from messing around any grey area. And points are the one thing that, that is so precious to these teams,”

And this is where Dale also made an interesting point about the new penalty system. He added, “uh, they can figure out, find a way to pay the monetary fine, they can figure that out and make that work on the book.”

With more race teams coming into the scene and to keep things under control, NASCAR had to incorporate the older monetary penal system with newer point deductions.

Dale explained, “it was mostly monetary fines, uh and points were only done when it was such severe, you know situation but now points are common than fines and that’s because NASCAR knows that’s the one thing that the teams, uh are not really willing to give up.”

Even if the teams come up with a solution to pay off these fines, the point penalties can have a major impact throughout the season.

Fans know Dale Jr for not siding with the popular parties. But what he recently did was quite unusual. In the latest episode of his podcast, Dale criticized Josh over the Atlanta incident.

Clarifying his stance, Junior said, “I like Josh, he’s a great guy, I joked around he’s kind of the Kenny Powers of our Xfinity Series”.

Following the Atlanta incident, NASCAR has officially suspended Josh for this week’s race, and Dale believes it’s the right move, as he believes that nobody can “interrupt” the pace of the race. “I think whatever NASCAR thinks to do for this particular penalty, I think it will be a fair one.”

The reason this is a little shocking is that this is in direct contrast to what fans felt about the whole situation.
