In today’s day and age, human life is almost unimaginable without smartphones. From consuming content to booking any kind of service, the phone has almost become an extension of the human body. NASCAR drivers are no different from the rest of us in this respect. However, 2020 Cup Series champion Chase Elliott spends most of his screen time on quite an unusual App.

Despite all the technological advancements over the years, NASCAR still has a lot of issues when it comes to decision-making. Drivers are not always patient enough for the organizers to deal with these issues. When they are fed up, these drivers (including Chase Elliott) often try to deal with the problem themselves if they can.

There are a lot of things that need to be satisfactory for a NASCAR race to take place. The most essential of those would be the condition of the track. One of the most common things that ruin a race weekend is rain. Motor racing on a wet track is not uncommon, but things are different. On road courses, the organizers may choose to go for the wet weather tires and run the race. However, that is not the case on ovals, as things are far more dangerous.

These safety measures are necessary for the drivers who risk their lives every weekend. But what a lot of drivers have a problem with is communication. Well, Chase Elliott seems to have had enough of this and taken matters into his own hands, and it’s all thanks to his smartphone. In a recent interview with The Athletic, Chase Elliott revealed the app he uses the most on his phone.

The No. 9 driver took the opportunity to take a little dig at NASCAR. He said, “I’m a Weather.com believer, and I like keeping up with the weather to see what’s going on. Obviously, we all do a lot of traveling, so it’s underrated. There’s no drama involved in the Weather.com app. You get what it tells you—it might be true and it might not—but at least there’s no one’s opinion on there”.

The Hendrick Motorsports star is not in the playoffs for the 2023 season. But his motivation is still just as high as he has a shot at redemption.

Chase Elliott will not win the Cup Series championship in 2023, but what the No. 9 can win is the owner’s championship. The season has not lived up to Rick Hendrick’s expectations, and Mr. H will be hoping his star driver will bring him some joy in the end. For Chase Elliott, it will be all about proving to his boss that this season was nothing but an aberration.

In a recent interview, the driver of the No. 9 revealed that the job has kept him motivated so far. “It’s kind of surprised me in a way because, obviously, there is a lot of talk about the driver side and there is not really a lot of talk about the owner’s front. Once the deal got started, I didn’t feel any different than I have felt in years past,” Elliott said.

“It still keeps us very motivated and keeps me motivated to want to go and do a good job. Now that we are here, it feels like another playoff year, really in our approach and my approach,” he added. Will Chase Elliott be able to redeem himself and win Rick Hendrick’s owner’s championship? Or will it be another chapter of disappointment in his season? Only time will tell.
